Good addition but I doubt it will be built too expensive for SF besides they wanna save money. Nobodys complaining about Great America their just saying what they want to see added to the park or improvements they can do so theyll enjoy their day. Why would anyone complain GA has more variety for everybody to do we have more rides or shows for families, teens and adults than disney, universal, or Sea World. Price wise our tickets and food are expensive but look at disney $71 for a ticket so ours is still a good deal compared to the big parks as for food its a themepark its supposed to be expensive just eat out across the street to BK or bring food in your car and eat at the parking lot or at the picnic tables by the dropoff area. Service, ride closure, staffing wise nobodys perfect all theme parks go through this problem every year and season they can only do whatever they can to make us happy just be glad we got some friendly workers and ride operators in GA to make us enjoy our day at GA. SWF is a good ride whatever they put in its place if the rumors are true would be something good for us at least we might get something new in 2008 its better than getting nothing for 2008 so thanks SF.

Um, Orlando parks never close rides due to staffing issues, or lack of guests.

I really believe that we will soon be seeing small changes that, overtime, will become a MAJOR difference than what we have now. If you take a look at a Great America map from the 80s, you will see a big difference than today.
In the past, there were a few mistakes on things that we really like, but now SF is correcting several errors. In a few years, you may not see a big difference in the 2007 map and 2010 map, but the small things are the main prioroty, and I'm not saying that attracting families are smalling things, but many other objectives are, such as getting rid of faulty rides that cost to much to maintain in a safe manner, or other attractions that do more bad than good.
As SFI unties all those knots, it will be able to do better things that we might not have ever thought Six Flags can do! If a 2015 map would be comapred, a lot will be different. Rides will be moved, new attractions added, new theming and much more! No one can fix the problems of SFI in a year because the Amusement Park business is definitely not the easiest, and any park is a terror to run.
As SFI gets through their "plan" and process, it may open newer parks and attractions and lower prices, unless there is a flaw in the plan and Six Flags ends up sold, but I really doubt that such an event would happen. As of now, I think that the future SFI holds will get better and better. I think that it's been getting better already, because it's not getting worse...
To all of us that whine, me being one of them, it's about time that Six Flags tries to do what they think is the best for the company because you see that before, the main part of everything were the big rides to bring the big people(adults), but if SFI brings the smaller kids then they'll have good memories and when they grow up they'll want to go again. Wiggle's World and the other kid areas are already doing that, and by the time those kids grow, they'll be like.... "Hey... I remeber goin to SF and having a fun time... I'll take my kids and we'll go" (by that time Six Flags will become a total new experience for everyone, and I believe that it will be a place for everyone to get out for a day, and have a good time with the family and friends, and to enjoy what Six Flags Great America can truly be like.

Ironically, I think it is about the only time that I come here. I come on the boards, look at all the whining that is going on, and then get frustrated and move on. I like to relax and enjoy the day when I get to go to Six Flags, and take in all the little details.

I actually checked back through my other posts. To see just how far we've come, here is another post that is just like mine earlier in this thread, but it was posted back in 2005 - http://www.sfgamworld.com/phpBB2/viewto ... ght=#49713

Last I checked, they also stay open year round. Seasonal parks have to deal with a whole different set of issues because when the season ends, people have to go get another job if they need to earn money. Most people aren't going to wait to start looking for another job until the last minute.

If Great America was open year round, I'm sure that we would see a much more solid staff at all times here too. As an example -- I bet your local McDonalds doesn't close the fryer (or anything!) due to employees leaving for school, but again -- they aren't seasonal.

Very nice overall post. I'd like to specifically agree with this part of it, and just point out one other thing -- unlike a business like a fast food joint, it isn't like (most) people visit a theme park multiple times in a year. Six Flags as a company burned a lot of families in the past, families who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to come back to a park that they didn't have any fun at the last time they were there.

I think that the turnaround may end up taking longer than even current management is thinking it might, but they are *definitely* on the right track. I think that this year was the first year that the demographics really started switching back to a family atmosphere, and I think that in another two or three years, the chain will be in a totally different place than it is now.

--

As for the B&M rumor, all that I'll say is that with the history that the park has with the company, whenever the park gets another large coaster, I wouldn't doubt if it came from B&M. Having said that, weren't all of the B&M coasters made under the previous GM's watch (Wintrode?) If so, I wonder if the new GM would have the same relationship with them, or if that is even a factor. Who is the new GM now, anyway? I haven't paid attention to that at all.

I think so too, and it takes time because there are several things to smooth out for the chain. It will become a much better place to be for EVERYONE and that's the most important thing of all.

^If they fix the smaller problems, it may be enough to eventually get out of debt. Do you think that Six Flags wants to be in debt??.... Its not their most favorite position and they are not ignoring it.

From screamscape:
New Attraction - Rumor - (9/6/07) If the latest rumors are true, it seems that the new indoor family ride will be the same Dark Knight themed coaster / dark ride attraction also rumored for Six Flags Great Adventure.

This would be cool.

It would make sense to put in a dark ride/coaster thing right there anyway. It's big enough for a small/medium coaster, and enclosing it would make it pretty good.

^If they theme it to SWT. I always thought it'd be cool to take trailblazers spot and keep "studio 13" a peronant attraction. Steady income, and a nice change to the park. And thats a lot more pheasable than a small coaster.

I wonder when were getting a press release for what they are going to put in casue if they dont put in a new coaster, we might get other attractions, such as thomas town.

We still don't know what there using SWF area for, but we'll know eventually by press release, scream scape, ext.

I do have some ideas that are family related
Another Whizzer-like coaster, maybe even enclosed.
A suspended coaster-family ride.

Ofcourse I want a bigger coaster more than anything else. But even though they might put in a just a few 100 more kids areas in SFGAm, the worse that could happen is a tornado ripping through sending coaster supports going everywhere. But that's just a thought.

If that happened...I would never go there again. Wiggles World is enough...I hate going to the park knowing that area is actually there. I hardly go over there anymore because I hate Wiggles. They're gay and annoying. At least Thomas isn't annoying....if I could choose Wiggles or Thomas I would have chosen Thomas to go where Eagle's entrance was. The stupid Big Red Car ride looks so pathetic where it was put it just has no themeing besides signs from different countries which make it worse. I really hate it and the theming there just looks horrible.

I had to watch Wiggles with my lil cuzin and the episode had a guy with a purple purse. Speaking of which my lil because from florida come up and went to GAm for her first time and shes 4 now. She loved Wiggles world and bought every toy there. Then she took of mad dash somehow knowing where Bulls entrance was and wanted to ride that. Shes going to grow up to be a coaster freak like me I just know it and I'm very proud of her. LOL!!! She rode Spacely and put her hands up when she was 3 and my other cuzin same age was a boy bigger and older and he was crying to death.

100 more childrens areas?
Might wanna check your math their bud.

With more rumors of the enclosed coaster buzzing around, maybe we will get the same indoor coaster that SFGAdv is getting.

I mean we both got Wiggle's World last year...
...but we didn't get Kingda Ka. Haha.

so being that this is a SWF topic, has anybody seen anybody working in the ride area or anything that would suggest its leaving?

I really hope they don't take out SWF. It's a reasonably good water ride. I like it. From looking at the map..I don't think that there is enough room for another ride...because you'd have to take out Great American Raceway wouldn't you? I could be wrong but I hope they don't take it out. I really don't.
