Is splashwater Falls being removed??

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

No, we have 2 kiddie areas, and 1 family area. Wiggles is a family themed area. There is no sch thing is too many families.

/\ I totally agree.

Does anyone else have doubts about Fright Fest this year? I am very apprehensive... then again, who knows... it could be awesome.

Pretty soon the kiddy rides will out weigh the other rides. If Splashwater and Deja kick the bucket at the end of the year and we get more kiddy rides, I will severly be disappointed with upper management decisions.

The again, as long as Hellevator & Terror Twister! are rocking, I will overlook the Hawride getting axed.

I sure hope all these decisions are bringing the revenue in they want. If we don't get a new coaster by at least 09 my faith in leadership running SFGAm will completely die.

Sorry for the venting, and bash me all you want. I am sure some people agree with me though.

Maybe they'll do that Save Deja Vu thing like Whizzer got.

Who knows.

I'm with you. we need a new coaster by 09. Like I said, superman in my opinion did not hit the par i expeted. it was slow and the drop laim. Rajun cajun was a nice addition, but not thrilling, so i'm considering it 2001 since we got a couple of good rides(V2 and Deja vu). but odds are they'll have to remove something for a new coaster.

I personally would rather have Thomas Town than SWF. Thomas & Friends is a great show and SFDK's Thomas Town looks like a really classy kids area. Also, its still a very popular show with small kids and as we know, parents of small kids spend when in the park. I also think that Thomas Town would perfectly round out the kids areas and no more would have to be built for a long time. SFGAm still needs a family ride and or enclosed familyish coaster that would make it THE undisputed most complete park.

The two priorities right now for SFGAm should be the SWF area and the SSA area. Once they get some family attractions put in those spots (or waterpark expansion in SSA area) then they can start thinking about another coaster.

/\ Was being silly about "Save Vu" I have no idea if it is going or if it isn't. It's a rumor, and its on everyones minds.

Superman is a lot of fun, just not worth the wait in my opinion.

Deja Vu is amazingly fun, but you'll have to wait to ride it. I wish I could be one of the people that get re-rides or walk ons but sadly the shortest I have ever gotten on it was just under 2 hours.

In my honest opinion, waiting more than 30 min. for V2 is not worth it.

Before everyone gets on my case, I guess I wait for the right time to attack a coasters line. I wander around the park looking for the "short line" at that particular second.

So before Vu and V2 fans knock me down, know that. I love all the coasters in the park besides Wolf, and I only like it because its B&M's first coaster.

That being said, children are not the only people coming to this park. If we are in fact getting Tommy blue train next year I just have to stop and ask myself, why? A nice flat would be great there, and will spice up that part of the park.

American Eagle would be completely surrounded by kid rides!

Or put something in by Trailblazer, flats are not that expensive. I just don't understand they can justify doing 2 years of back-2-back kids sections, not just rides, sections!

For the sake of arguing, I am not upset at all, just making valid points. Why do we need the blue train for kids when everyone can ride the normal train? Just doesn't seem to make a whole heck of a lot of sense to me.

Of course, they have market strategies out the ying-yang, and I am just a dumb ACEr, so I guess I'll shut up 8)

PS - Haven't been on here in quite sometime. Hello to all.

A family coaster would be nice, but i'd like to see something along the lines of space mountain. Make it similiar to whizzer(being a family ride) make the minium hight 36-48 so familys can ride together.

Or another big thrill like raging bull. Tall and fast

Hello ACEr, and yes i dont think they should add another kiddie world yet. But i'm just a teenage boy whos board out of his mind and has a week until school starts. so i've been over specualting sfgam alot lately.

I really hope splash water falls does not go. Then I will have to find a new ride to chant 'One More Time' on. Ohh dear, this could be tradjic.

I forgot about Roaring Rapids and was at the park from 10:00am to 3:oopm and never saw Yankee Clipper running when I was at that part of the park.

While I would LOVE a new coaster, I dont think our park NEEDS one at this point and if they would add a kids area at SWF they could get rid of at least one of the remaing ones as both are lame.

I would perfer the park not be in competition to have the most coasters, but would perfer quality over quantity!!!! You can have a park like BGW(for example) that doesnt havethat many coasters but the ones they have are very good and it complements the rest of the offerings the park has.

With Shapiro running the show, were probably not getting a coaster worth mentioning for awhile. I sure hope SWF isn't removed for another kids area. Splashwaterfalls is a great family ride and probably my favorite of all time, but if it is removed for something, history is on the side of new coaster. But again, these were removed before Shapiro.

Sky Whirl - axed for Vu

Shockwave (R.I.P) - axed for SUF

Splashwater Falls - ?

Its getting REALLY annoying reading "with Shapiro running things." You guys need to remember if its Thomas Town it would

1: Bring more kids/parents to the park. Parents spend money IN the park on things like food.

2: The parents would buy the kids the Thomas Town merch much like they do with Wiggles World. Thomas & Friends is a strong brand name.

Anybody with common sense would realize that a Thomas Town is a great investment for the park. Now I have no idea whats going to go there, but if it is a kids area, what does it matter.

Shapiro says this in every conference call and it really is the key.
PARENTS SPEND

As with Sky Whirl and Trailblazer, SWF is one of those rides that had to go for maintenence reasons not because the park just wanted to take it out. For my own safety, I definitley would not say the word "Splash" around any maintenence guy .

Spashwater has been giving out problems, as when I went, I got stuck on the lift for two consecutive times, the first was a 15 min wait, 2nd was a 5 because maintenence was already there.

SheiKra13 wrote:it would be good investment but still. another kid world? c'mon.

Just see how everything works out and go along with it because whining about something new won't do anything, I the park is trying to do its best as of this year, although nothing good may be visible for a while. Its a stage of the life of gam that's not the best but will hopefully benefit some time soon.

Yes, I was complaining. Theme parks attract thrill seekers, little kids with familys, water lovers, ext. But now that i think about it you gotta look at all the different types of guest. if you dont like what you see feel free to state your own opinion and back it up.
Thrill seekers have 12 coasters and a drop

Rajun Cajun:Looks more like a carnival ride

Superman:needs more inversions and a bit slow

Deja vu: great, but a lot of downtime.

V2: Thumbs up

Raging Bull:needs an inversion but otherwis a thumbs up

SSR: junior coaster.

Giant drop:Thumbs up

Viper: Thumbs up

Batman: i hate it but most like it so another thumbs up

Iron wolf:getting to be too rough

American Eagle: Good drop, great view and long, could have a better design, but it gets a thumbs up

Demon:Great for starters:thumbs up

Whizzer:a family ride that little kids love. thumbs up

So Ironwolf is getting to be one of the less populare rides so i think it will get the ax. But for now i think were fine

Familys have kiddie worlds, 2 coasters and water rides

Wiggles world: Little kids are loving it and my little causin cant get enought of it. Thumbs up

Loony Tune national park(i think thats the name) the ball place is one of the best atractions and the other ones are ok. Thumbs up

Camp cartoon network:i used to love this place and it has a little kids coaster. thumbs up

Whizzer(see above)

Loggers run and yankee clipper: these tweo are great family rides and they still get a lot of peole. thumbs up

Roaring rapids:great for families and exciting for younger ones. thumbs up

Splash water falls: scary for the younger kids on ocasion, but this ride is so much fun. you know your gonna get wet. you know that the bridge people are gonna get wet, and you know everyone will exit drenched. this is such a good ride and i'd hate to see it go.

So i guess thomas wouldnt hurt.

And as for water lovers you have the water rides listed above and a water park i'm not gonna go much detail into.

Now for the spinning lovers there are plent plenty. Ill name a few

Revolotion, FF, Home town fun machine, triple play, orbit, king choas, rajun cajun, ext.

So actually looking at it this way, something revolving around familys wouldnt be a horrible idea.

I do like Ol' Cajun, but I miss the bridge that used to sit in its place.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

They'd never do that to bull. Anyway, it's a hyper twister coaster and with only a lap bar..............

I think bull is great without an inversion, but a florrless would make it nice, but it would cause WAY to many problems, so I sorta take that back.

Um, he was being sarcastic about the loop on bull.

So if it's for maintenence reasons, does that mean Splash is definately going?

i guess, I wouldn't mind them talking out SWF. I mean, it is only one ride that some people don't like to ride. If you want to get soaked there is Hurricane Harbor. Its not like there taking down a coaster for the new area, IF they do take it down. So I guess I am not complaining.

But with Shapiro running things the park has become a little more family friendly. My aunt and uncle love taking my cousins to the park now and everyone has a great time.

And if making a new kids area now..will pay off and get them more out of debt....then that is a better chance of a "GOOD" and "CUSTOM" coaster in the future. I would rather wait till 09 or 2010 to get a really good coaster...then have them put another cheap and gimmicky coaster in now.

Think about it, we haven't had a custom quality coaster since Raging Bull. SUF, Raging Cajun, V2, and DeJaVu are all gimmicky clones. So if we do get a good custom coaster in 09, it would be a ten year of a difference. And in between that time out park has been more family friendly. I think that that is why our park would be one of the better parks in the chain.

And I would rather have that then our park being run down and cheap.

Except for the fact that Shapiro is gearing the parks toward families, he probably won't put in a good custom coaster. The next coaster we get will be somewhere around Ragin Cajun's intensity. I don't care if parents spend, because I know they do, but if all you do is add kids areas, eventually thrill seekers will stop going to parks. So what if we are the minority, alienating any groups of people is just wrong.

honestly. i mean i get board with my season pass after a while. and i really wasnt inpressed with SUF. but when looking at the plot of land for SFGAm's SWF, what is there room for. kiddie worlds and flats would fit there comfortably.

If you read the rest of the Screamscape rumors, he says it will be a family ride that will replace SWF.

And the family ride has pushed back the Thomas land another year. Also, Thomas is supposed to replace an existing kids area. When I was there this summer, the Wiggles area was packed, while the other 2 kid areas were pretty dead. I could see one of them getting a Thomas makeover in the future.
