But sure enough, I waited 20 minutes just to watch the ride run its course about 20 times and then walk right through. I recently graduated as a mechanical engineer from college, and from my experience, engineers try to design everything so that the product is enjoyable by as many people as possible. Now I understand that small children may be unsafe, and I also understand that excessively large people may not fit correctly. But to limit the maximum height to 6'4" is absurd in my opinion. There are a LOT of men who won't be able to ride Vu because of what I'm thinking is just a poor design. If there is a reason that they made the restraints that way, I'd like to hear it. But as far as I can tell, if I can fit on V2 and Batman, why can't I fit on Deja Vu?
King Chaos and Revolution also have 76" max, V2 has 80" max. I dont know exactly why those do, but DejaVu is that way because Vekoma decided to put things in places that tall people can reach (not talking about platforms)....and yes more people are denied for being too tall than too short. Its not really that uncommon in the industry now though, the Intamin hypercoasters have 76" restrictions now also.
Last Friday, I went on the Vu about 7 times, and my 5th time we got stuck on the first hill for about 15 min, and that was horrible because kids were crying, giving me a headache, but that still doesnt stop me from going on it. All the poeple from the train recieved an exit pass, and the rest of the day went great!
Also, what about envelope pull-throughs, where the park places the large piece of wood that's supposed to resemble the maxium reach of a passenger on the train and pull the train through the track to see what passengers can touch. I'm assuming they did that and had some collisions at the far reach of the envelope, and that's why the restrictions are there. But as I said, I think it's a poor design to have track/supports so close that people can reach them. Being too tall to ride shouldn't be an issue as far as I'm concerned.

As far as being too tall, do they always really check height? I have a friend who's 6'6", and he's been on both Vu and Revy. Did he get lucky that they maybe just didn't notice his height?

People taller than 76" are improperly secured by the OTSR's due to their chest size.
I'm 6'6" and REALLY skinny... if it was an issue with the chest, they would have definitely let me on. But they still turned me down. Perhaps they don't think that the OTSR won't go down far enough because my shoulders are too high... in any case its pretty sad.

Yes its not a matter of being skinny. There is only so much space before the OTSR starts to crush into your shoulders, thus why the height limit exists.
I am 6' 4.5" and I only got tuned down twice. And it was by some older women. And I can say that I have never had a problem with the restraint and never felt unsafe.
On the other hand, I do have a problem with V2. There are sometimes where I cant get it down. And when I go on the back spike I put my feet out so its like I'm standing up. That way I don't slide forward because there is no seat belt between your legs. I'm sure I would be fine but...you know.
Yes it is, I was on it about 16 times this season, and it's barely down, but I doubt it would be open on the 14th because of the weather(unless it changes)!!!!
Today I can laugh everyone that thought it was going to rain today because it didn't. It was beautiful at the park. Lines were fairly short and it was a good day all around.
^When does it ever rain at SFGAm when the forecast says its supposed to?
It always seems like when it says storms all day, it is bright and sunny. It always makes me mad when I plan a trip on a cold rainy day and it is sunny and warm.
I swear Gurnee is in a "special" area where the weather is always good.
The few times I've gone where it was supposed to rain, it has. One of those times the power went out, and I didn't know it. I hope it does tomorrow, well, rain anyway. Keep the crowds away!
Ok. This is something funny I found on screamscape.
We’ve been sent an anonymous tip that this could be the last season for Déjà Vu, claiming that all three of the Six Flags rides may be removed this winter. Can anyone local confirm this rumor? So another rumor is only a rumor but if deja vu is removed, I will not bet a happy camper. Also on screamscape, no more spygirl next year and another family ride! As always don't listen to most of what Screamscape reports, but just a funny rumor which was probably started by people complaining that the ride is always down and they will remove it.... unless otherwise
Does Six Flags Great America have the no priority seating rule for Deja Vu? I absolutely love the ride when I went on it at Six Flags Over Georgia and at Six Flags Great America. Looking down at the ground almost 200 feet in the air is just amazing, and a great ride follows.
I went to Magic Mountain a few weeks ago, and was a bit disappointed. My favorite seat on Deja Vus is 8B, but at Magic Mountain they would not let you wait for any row other than the one assigned to you. I know that the signs say "No priority seating" but I hadn't seen it enforced at SFoG or SFGAm. First I rode the SFMM Vu in 5B which was great, but still no 8B. So the next night I "tied my shoe" for a while right before the turnstiles until they were loading the back of the train. They assigned me 7B, which was great, but unfortunately I happened to get in between a party of 4, and they wanted to be in adjoining rows, so I had to move with another single rider in 7A. The B seats make this ride so much better! I just couldn't see a thing in the A seats as your view was ridiculously obstructed. So I'd recommend the B seats to anyone.

No, they don't enforce it at GAm. I always say I either want to go front row or back and they let me go. The B seats definitely are the best, besides 1A.
Sometimes they don't let me sit in 1A when I ask. And they always make me go in 1B....which is the same thing, but I like the front center because then there is nothing in front of you.
Yeah, sometimes, depending on the person, they may not let you choose. Although I don't know if I've ever had that happen to me with Vu. I like both 1A and B, almsot equally. I'll just ride A when we run to Vu every time we go to the park.
