How often does this happen?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Took a ride on Vertical Velocity shortly after park opening on Sunday. Normal ride except that the holding brake didn't kick in on the back spike. I watched the cycle after mine and it did. I checked again after riding BTR and saw it do the same thing.

Does this happen often or is this something that just start happening occasionally?

^It happens very often. The holding brake only kicks in when the train reaches a certain height to avoid damaging the brake. haha, so blame the lims for this one

There's actually a few videos of it happening on You Tube (No links sorry), but I've never seen it happen in person or had it happen to me.

It's not so much very often, but it happens.

It's kind of like TTD with rollbacks.

I think it would be better w/o the holding brake.

Happens to me constantly, but one time the brakes held us up there for more than 5 seconds!

It really makes no difference. It happened to me twice and both times it had no effect on the ride except that it didn't stop. So, it happens not often, but it is not a very rare thing either.

To bad Premeir didn't get their act together on time, the original plan for 1998 was much more fun, especially with the recent lapbar conversions :)

I agree, it woulda been much better than Camp right now. It would also have been a capacity machine, especially if That Guy was operating it.

I'm probably in the extreme minority but I'd consider that a fair trade :)
