Thrilled Ever After.

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby rich12_16 on June 19th, 2007, 9:10 pm
Okay, So.
My brother and his fiancee did get selected as one of the seven couples to get married on July 7th, 2007.

The are all getting married in front of Columbia.
The reception is a Brunch styled one.

They get free wedding rings from Kay Jeweler, who is sponsoring the event, free goodie bags including season passes and 4 flashpasses. They get to be in the parade at night, they get to invite 20 guests, and they might get free hotel, but that's still being worked on.

I'll deff. make sure to take 94896568595 pictures to show everyone, as it will be a very special day.

P.S. The new PR Manager Marissa is really nice.

If I'm not mistaken, all of the couples will be married in the same spot at the same time, but I'm not too sure. Marissa said that they were going to decorate the front of the park with flowers and balloons and such, it's going to be formal, and wonderful. The parade will include all 7 couples in the cars from Great America Raceway, with just married stickers and balloons and cans and such.

It's a nice thing, and all the Six Flags parks get out of it is some media attention, which is no harm, since they are hooking the couples up lol.

We're all pretty excited about it, and I'm glad that I got them into it.

They wanted to get married on Sky Trek, oh well. They get what they get, lol.
I would have chosen the Columbia.

I'll deff. Get millions of pictures. I'm going to need more space on my computer lol. Yeah. If I'm not mistaken, they have given up on the coaster thing, and are having everyone Wed infront of Columbia.

I think having Columbia as a backdrop for my wedding pictures would be so much fun...provided I had someone to marry. If I had the opportunity, I think I'd have to hop on some coasters in my wedding dress too.

Congratulations to your brother!

The wedding itself is at 7:00a.m. And reception to follow, after that who knows, but everyone who goes to the wedding gets to stay in the park until closing time.... Possibly ERT? That would rock! P.S. Bugs Bunny is the ring bearer.

Sorry to double post, but, they got the very detailed e-mail today.

Dear couples,

Thank you very much for submitting your entry to our Thrilled Ever After wedding by Kay Jewelers on July 7, 2007. We were thrilled by your stories and that’s why we selected you to be one of our lucky couples to enjoy a fun day at Six Flags with your family to witness and celebrate your love on the luckiest day of the year.

Herewith then some more information, as we know how eager you must be to plan the details of this special day.

Marriage Licenses
For those of you who are getting married for the first time, you would be responsible to arranging your marriage licenses from the Lake County office at least 72hours prior to July 7th. Please bring this with you on the day to ensure it gets signed and is official! The number for this office is 847-377-2401.

Guests
Each couple can invite up to 20 guests to join them on this very special day, offering all guests free admission to Six Flags Great America for the day. Children age 1 and under are free but unfortunately we have to stick to this number for catering purposes, so it also includes any bridesmaids/best men should you wish to invite.

Guest arrival on the day
We would encourage guests to arrive at Six Flags Great America front gate at around 6am on the morning of July 7th, 2007. (Please try and have your guests arrive at 6.45am at the latest, so we could have everyone ready to witness.) This is just to ensure that we have enough time to get guests through the gates, and to our Carousel Plaza area to be ready for the ceremony which is set to begin at exactly 7am. (We could extend until 7.07am!) Please note that normal rules would apply, ie no food or drinks would be allowed into the park. For other general park information, please view our website: http://www.sixflags.com/greatamerica Once guests leave the park, we’ll ensure they get a stamp so that they can enter the park again at no cost. Please also be sure to advise your guests that a parking pass would be $15 for the day. You can also advise your guests that our Water Park, Hurricane Harbor, is free of charge with general admission so kids might want to bring their towels and beach gear with for some water fun later in the day!

Couple arrival on the day
You are more than welcome to arrive a little earlier or at the same time as your guests. That is totally up to you. We would need to establish a specific time though and we will inform all brides of a venue where they could change and/or keep clothing during the duration of the ceremony and reception.

The wedding ceremony
The ceremony would take place on the stage between the reflection pond and our signature ride, the Columbia Carousel. We would like all seven couples and our Justice of the Peace on the stage and will have it beautifully decorated to set the wedding atmosphere. We would start off the ceremony by playing the wedding march and brides are more than welcome to appoint someone to walk them in. Our JOP will be doing a short introduction of the uniqueness of 7/7/07 and will then proceed to doing each couple’s vowels independently. We have a few special guests from Warner Brothers who will do the honors of bringing in the rings. More to be confirmed soon. Once everyone has done their I DO’S, we’ll proceed to a ride on the Carousel for the couples followed by the signing of the licenses and photo opportunities with the media and friends and family.

The reception
At approximately 8am, we will move over to the reception area where a special breakfast/brunch will be served to all couples and their guests. We have also planned photo opportunities with a wedding cake and bouquet tossing! At the end of the reception, we’ll do the lucky draw for the one couple who will win the honeymoon of a lifetime from Bluegreen Resorts.

Photographs
Kodak is the exclusive photographic partner to all Six Flags Events around the country on this day and will be taking photographs of you and your guests during the wedding ceremony and reception. They will provide each couple with a complimentary 6 x 4 and 10 x 8 photograph and will offer a set of photographs at a special price. More details will be sent to you shortly. Guests are more than welcome to bring in their own cameras or camcorders, but unfortunately no professional photographers as we have the agreement with Kodak.

Rings
Matching 10-carat yellow wedding bands will be given to each couple on the day of the event, courtesy of Kay Jewelers. We will forward a contact person for Kay Jewelers to each couple, if you would like to resize the ring after your special day.

Couple gifts
We have a few additional goodies for each couple in store, but you will have to wait until your special day to find out what that is…Guests are more than welcome to bring gifts to the couples, but please note that Six Flags cannot take responsibility for anything lost or damaged.

Media
We will be inviting local Chicago media to the event, as well as other local regions. Some of you have already been contacted by these publications and I will be sure to scan a copy of the press article for you once I receive it. Please be advised that we will have media attending on the day and they might want to request interviews with you as well as take pictures. Our new PR Manager, Brooke, and myself will be escorting media on the day and will make sure all runs smoothly.

As soon as we have more information available, we will let you know. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am always at the office, but if I’m not at my desk, please just leave a message or drop me an email and I will get back to you.

Congratulations again and we are looking forward to hosting this special day for you!

Best wishes,

Marissa Visagie

they're charging wedding guests for parking?

I dont know, that just seems sorta low, but I guess it is Six Flags after all, and they have to offset the costs involved somehow :)

I don't know Parker, this all sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

These couples are getting a free wedding ceremony, rings, reception (although probably not a great one), and even a Justice of the Peace . I think Six Flags is actually doing a pretty good job with this.

Good afternoon to all the lucky couples!

We have some good news with regards to your guests - they do NOT have to pay for parking anymore. We have worked out for your guests to arrive through our employee entrance (a big sign that says "Employee Entrance") on Route 21 and once they get in from that side, an escort will meet them and direct the way to go around the park on the inside roads and get to the front gate parking where they would normally park. That way we could avoid payment as we won't have our front gate car tolls open that time of morning. If you need instructions on how to get to Route 21 entrance, please let me know. Once your guests go out again during the day, and they come back in, they will have to then pay $15 for daily parking. However, no admission will be charged as all guests will receive hand stamps when they decide to leave the park and they can then just re-enter the park with that stamp again.

Then also, here is the ring contact for you from Kay Jewelers. You can contact her about finding a local Kay Jewelers to you and resizing the wedding bands. When you contact her, please state that you are one of the couples from Six Flags Great America.

We have also arranged to have special bouquets made for each bride as well as boutonniere for each groom. We will be handing those over to you on the morning. If you wanted to do your own, then that's great. Please just let us know in advance.

If you have any other questions at this stage, feel free to contact me next week. I'll be in the office running around like Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner!

Have a great weekend.

well then :)

my former point was if they are going though all this trouble and giving away so much stuff to these people, might as well throw in something that costs them nothing like parking.

If anyone can go the 7th, go, because my date [ Chelsea ] and I will need someone to keep us company while waiting in line.

Hello. I have been going to this site for years now reading everyone posts but I am just now signing in. :o SFGAM is my hometown park, but I live out in DC now. Me and my husband got picked to renew our vows at SFA. I sent an email to both parks, but SFGAM never wrote us back. In reading the post they are doing things just a little different out here. We actually get to get married on a roller coaster. We picked Superman. Other couples picked a water ride, the teacups, (b/c of children). Karrin the PR Rep for SFA is real nice. She loved our story, and sent it to the Today show! We should hear something this week on weather or not the Today show is going to come to DC to do a piece with us. So far from what we hear they are really interested in us. but i just wanted to say Hi and I will keep you ll posted if your interested. :D

Congrats on that. = ]. I've also received e-mails from a couple from SFOT, saying that they havent received any info yet.... So yeah, it seems as if every park is doing it different. Please do keep us updated with your wedding.
