Night Lights

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I have stayed at the park after dark and I know how they have lights on the coasters hills and all. But when it is closed during the night do they keep the lights on the coasters, or do they shut them off.

The lift, catwalk, and flat ride lights are controlled by ride operators, and are turned off at night before they leave.

The large lights on the ground that light up the coasters are on timers and on all night.

The midway/queue lights around the park are on all night for third shift park services and maintenence.

I think that most rides need more lighting on the track. The park always seems closed when I drive by at night because it seems so dark.

I think that they should get some big spot lights on Raging Bull and light up Viper with flashing lights like on Lightning Racer.

^But the darkness just adds onto the fun of those rides.

I wish they would do more with the lighting. Especially on American Eagle. I remember very clearly how much cooler Millennium Force looked because it was lit up in such fun ways.

Imagine if a theatrical lighting designer did lighting for roller coasters!
It would be so cool... *sigh* I'd do it...

ditto. Gotta love Nitro at night, just goes off where there are no lights at all by the river.

I've been wanting for years to see red, white, and blue chaser lights installed on American Eagle's main stretch (lift, drop, first two hills, helix). I know Tidal Wave had them and I still hear people mention how cool they looked.

Some rides seem better with lights (Millennium Force) but rides like Whizzer where the ride's hidden most of the time makes the ride 10x better at night without the lights.
