For those who missed the information in the wedding thread on the news section of this site, this is Jim Taylor's last week at the park. Jim Taylor is the leading PR specialist at the park.
Since Jim came on board from Over Georgia about a year ago, for the first time ever, Six Flags Great America had a true internet presence other than what they had through their website. Jim put together a youtube page featuring some neat old vidoes from the park's vault. He also put together a Great America myspace page as well. His latest addition was the shortly lived Great America podcast - which many people liked and look forwardly to hearing each week.
On top of all that, he would make the occasional post here and there on sfgamworld's forums. This marked the first time ever that an official representative of the park interacted with this website by posting news and reading and replying to threads on the forums. No other Great America public relations rep had ever paid any attention to this website or the internet before this, and I doubt whoever replaces him will continue on this novel tradition that Jim started - though I hope I am wrong!
So, in case you are reading this Jim, I - on behalf of everyone else who appreciated what you did - wanted to say thank you for all the work that you did in contributing to the Great America internet fanbase! Good luck to you in all of your future endeavors.
Wow, where is Jim off to? I meant him a few years ago at Spring Fling at Six Flags over Georgia and attended two of those while he was there. In fact the one a couple years ago was on his last day at SFoG as he was leaving for Chicago the next day.
It was a treat having him at SFGAm and he did indeed use the internet well.
Thanks for posting this...didn't hear about it. Jim Taylor is a great guy who promoted the park. I loved the podcast and miss it. I talked to Jim when I seen him in the parks, and he is truly a guy who loved his job.
