IMAX Theater

PGA has gutted the inside of their IMAX theater. It will make a good place for a dark ride.Who would like to see SFGAm's IMAX theater meet the same fate?

I think that would be pretty cool but I dont know how likely it would be. I would like to see a new dark ride because I dont go to the shows. Wouln't it be a little small though? I dont know because I have never been in there.

No, it is pretty big.I have layed it over some of the Disney dark-ride show-buildings and it is big enough.Once again, it boils down to $$$. PGA is inspiring because they seem to be repurposing their old rides while adding new ones. I would like to see something done with the theater since there are 2 others in Chicago plus the movie theater ones in the suburbs.

Move SSA in there. In fact, you might be able to fit TWC in there too. I've never been inside, but it seems rather large. Then after that, you'll have a nice new area opened up for a new coaster. Maybe they could put in that floorless everyone's been saying so much about

JroI agree with the idea of moving the karts and SSA. However, the idea of mixing the IMAX with those seems a little off.You couldn't do the karts since it is indoors and SSA simply needs to be put to rest. Maybe though, it would be a cool queue, station, and mid-course show building for a new coaster that Could be placed outside as a replacement to SSA and Karts

I didn't know about the size. It seems pretty tall but I didnt know how big the overall floor space was. If you say its big though, I'll take your word for it. I think that putting SSA in there is a great idea. I would rather see them put SSA out to pasture though and put a new, better motion simulator in the IMAX building. They could just build a new go kart track somewhere like the ones in the dells that go up levels. That way the track could still be long and comlex, but it would have a smaller foot print. Then they could use the new room in the park for a new coaster.

This year I went in it for the first time. Its pretty big. They could put something nice in there. If GAm were to get a bobsled coaster (which I bet they wont) they could put some of it in there like CP did with DT.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, however, it was simply a measure of looking at the footprint of the building and overlapping it on the Superstar Limo show building. The building is wide enough for a decent dark ride and it certainly is more than tall enough. It is close to an exact copy of PGA's and PGA will be able to make use of their structure.I would love to see a family dark ride. I am pretty sure the building would have to be razed for any rollercoaster interaction function ala Floorless show building/station. So it would probably be movie/stage/dark ride facility.The only other option is a flat ride. Run a flat ride in it with dark lights, strobes, wind effects, etc. Cyclone Sam's at WOF is an example of this set-up. It makes a simple flat ride become 4x more popular.

I do not like the idea of putting a new simulator in the Pictorium unless they make it like an upgraded Star Tours. I hate SSA because it feels like you are in a movie theater and your seat moves. I would like to see a simulator with small riding pods (Star Tours, Body Wars). Now you could fit 3 to 5 pods in the Pictorium with a themed queue and that would be neat.An indoor Top Spin would be cool with music and strobe lights

I wouldn't mind seeing something like Tomb Raider at our park. In fact, there's a good chance that that's what PGA will be getting...

Well then they would go together great. I dont know much about the indoor rides out there. What do you guys think is better? Scooby Doo or Tomb Raider or something else?

Scooby Doo is fun, but the Florida interactive darkrides are much better. TR is just amazing. Thrilling, well themed.... It's a great ride. If we were going to get one of the two (which we're not), I'd rather have Tomb Raider. As far as what PGA is getting, my guess would be Scooby Doo. The Scooby Doo ride at PKI used to be a theater, so I would assume a Scooby Doo at PGA would fit better.

Have you guys ever been on the Men In Black ride at Universal Orlando? That ride is simply amazing... it's a classic dark ride, but everyone if armed with a lazer gun, and the ride is actually a giant shooting range. Two tracks run next to each other with cars being dispatched in sets, and you either win or lose, depending on which car's combined score is higher. Now, that would be a awesome ride, something like that!

I guess a dark ride could be themed to the 'Dark Knight,' Batman. After having ridder Spider-man at IoA, I don't know if anything will top it for awhile. A Batman-themed dark ride would probably be out of place in/near Pictorium, with B:TR at a different section of the park.

Men in Black is a great ride. It is a perfect example of Universal taking one of Disney's rides (Buzz Lightyear) and making it ten times better.Spider-Man at IOA is another great ride and there is no way Six Flags would put the time or money into that type of ride at Great America. I have heard speculation that Disney is designing a Spider-Man type ride for the Studios (Villian Theme), but that is just speculation.

I would like to see something like Spider-Man at IOA but like what Soxman said its not going to happen. At Universal Studios Hollywoood they had a tour type thing and they take you inside a building and it has a King Kong theme. I thought it was pretty cool. Thats another thing that SF wouldnt even bother dealing with.

Though Ohio, Pennsylvania, and California are better coaster states, no one can deny that Florida has the best dark rides anywhere. Period. I went to IOA expecting great coasters, and I was disappointed. in my opinion, the only good rides at IOA are Spiderman, and JPRA. Both more than sufficed for the apparent lack in the coaster department. At USO, Kong and MIB were also amazing flats. I agree with what Soxman said about US taking the concept, and making it ten times better. And then theres Disney. The company that took the Darkride concept and really made it into something good. Pirates, Mansion, and basically all of Fantasyland.... All quality rides.

Hulk- Good Launch, nothing more. The rest was complete garbage. Boring turns, awkward inversions... it just went on and on. The Boomerang was intense, but then there was nothing more to it.DD- Cool duels, nothing else. If each coaster was on it's own, they would be nothing. Better than Hulk, but besides that, they're nothing special. in my opinion

I would have to agree with Jro - Both coasters are nothing special - I enjoyed the theme on DD. If you do ride DD you have to be in the front or it is no funIOA is still the best THEME PARK I have ever been to
