Ragin' Cajun Height Restriction

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I have a question. My friend has a son that's on the shorter side, but wanted to ride Ragin' Cajun when they went to the park last year. She and I were both thinking that that ride is kind of wimpy for a height restriction like that...

What's the deal? Is it something with the restraints?? I mean, he's just an inch or 2 shorter than required height and it seems like a pretty "kiddie" type ride...so we were just wondering on that...

While it is a "family" roller coaster....it is far from a "kiddie" ride experience. There are some intense lateral g's going on the corners.

Not to mention, the ride manufacturer sets the hight requirement, not the park. They know what is and is not acceptable based on their calculations of design.

Ragin Cajuns not a "kiddie" ride at all, actually the park has it classified as a "High Thrill" ride.
Have your friend try out Demon and Whizzer he is tall enough for those.

The classification of "High Thrill" has always made me scratch my head a little. Obviously, the height limit is not the park's doing, but to classify a ride that's just above Whizzer in intensity the same as they do Raging Bull is ludicrous. I'm sure the kids who are unsure if they want to ride RC are very re-assured it's an easy ride when they see "High Thrill".

See...that's what I'm saying...the kid can do Demon, no problem...Whizzer too....

I've done this ride myself, and I gotta say I found it a little on the mellow/boring side....of course, I think that about a lot of rides unless I'm practically hanging upside down on it for like a week... LOL...Ok, well maybe not THAT long...

Thanks for the input...I didn't realize it was a mfr height restriction rather than park, but now that you say it, it does make sense...DUH... :)
