Q-Bots for '07?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby CoasterDude12-2 on March 3rd, 2007, 11:45 pm
If the q-bots work like DejaVu does, they're not exactly going to be beneficial. But since there computers, I don't think I have to worry about that. But do Q-Bots factor in ride breakdowns? You can't ride Vu at 5PM if it's broken.

He's saying that they do take into effect things like ride breakdowns etc. They just cancel Q-Bot reseverations for the ride at that time.

I'm assuming you'll get charged if you lose the Q-Bot?

When renting you have to put down a deposit of around $300 or a credit card number. If you loose it they charge you.

So in the end, is this Q-Bot thing really worth it?

I'd say if you live far away and were coming down to the park for one day, get it. Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine without it.

Well the other thing to remember too is it helps make things more family friendly.

As I don't expect people under 18 to have either a credit card that can take a $300 charge, or a blank check to write.

Yeah I have neither, so getting a Q-Bot for myself is out of the question already.

It's such a great idea too.

I rented it a few years ago, and i didnt have a credit card. They say you need a deposit but they really wont do any sort of deposit on the q-bot unless you do not return it. They will have your identification card and information where they can then contact you about the missing qbot. Things would go from there.

I believe Season Pass is also accepted as a deposit, as they can get all your personal info off of it, at least I think I read that on the LoQ website.

How it works is you either give them $300 deposit, Credit Card Number, Season pass or State Issued ID for a deposit.
I have used it only once at all I can say is that is very nice to have, but it’s a pain to rent. You have to fill out this form and then wait in this very long line. The line does not move fast because the person behind the counter has to type in all your information in the computer. Then they give you a qbot. Also when I used it about 8 hours of having it the batteries died on it and I had to go back to the rental place so they can give me a new one.

Looks like Six Flags is using some variation of the Lo-Q system and will charge $15 weekdays and $20 holidays for 4 rides, similar to the price old paper card system. Here's the info from the just redesigned Six Flags website:

Pack in all the thrills and excitement you can with The Flash Pass. Six Flags Great America's virtual ride reservation system holds your place in line electronically, so you can spend more time having fun and less time waiting for our most popular attractions. When it's almost time for your turn to ride, an alert is sent to your Flash Pass device. It's that simple.
HOW TO BUY
Flash Passes can be purchased for $15* (Monday-Friday) or $20* (Saturday, Sunday and Holidays) at the ticket booths, the Flash Pass booth (behind Guest Relations in Six Flags Plaza) or at the Guest Necessities Center.

AVAILABILITY
A limited number of Flash Passes are available for purchase each operating day. The passes will be available only while supplies last and are valid only on the day of purchase. Please check at the Flash Pass booth for a list of specific rides available.

USING THE FLASH PASS
The Flash Pass program does not require any sort of reservation or pre-determined arrival time. All you have to do is choose your ride and follow the directions provided. Each Flash Pass is good for four priority boarding opportunities, however you want to use them:

1 person on 4 rides
2 people on 2 rides
4 people on 1 ride

*The Flash Pass price is subject to change without notice.

They just redid the whole website, unfortunately, as happens many times when websites get redone, some mistakes were able to slip through. The Flash Pass page is almost entirely wrong. SFGAm will be getting the normal Lo-Q system with reserved riding times.

I listened to the Six Flags call last year and Shiperio said that some parks woiuld get the new V2020. He said being reserve your ride from the FlashPass. That sounds cool. That is not like the other Lo-Q systems where you have to go to the ride to reserve the ride. I guess you will get more rides that 4 like before. I wonder if you will be able to use it all day. Could be good for the park.

Well SFGAm may use a similar system. The electronic systems were installed in 2005 and were intended to be used for flashpasses in 2006. They arent the same as the LO-Q system but they can probably sync if that is what management decides to do.

SFGAM is getting the Low-Q system. There is a new version of it that Dollywood is using where you reserve your time right on the q-bot it self and do not have to go up to each ride to reserve it. I am not sure which system we will receive, but they are both made by Lo-q.

Also, the System may not be up and running by opening day.

Well it's official we do have the new Q-Bots where you can reserve the ride from the Q-Bot. I tried it on opening day and I think it saved alot of time it was a really great addition to the park as for the deposit you dont need one well at least they didnt ask me for one we did however need to fill out a form but its a really short form and it just asks for your general information.

Mr. Six,

Can you describe in more detail how it works? Do you have to go to the ride, or just select the ride on screen? Can you be in more than one queue at a time? Do you have to return within a specific time window or simply anytime after the time noted? Once it is your time to get back in the queue, can you immediately get in queue for another ride?

Well to reserve the ride you just scroll through what rides are currently using the Fastlane's and you push reserve it's gonna say a time when to go back to the ride during that time you can do what ever you want. But when the time comes around to when your reservation is its gonna beep and vibrate you dont have to get the the ride when your reservation is you can still do what ever yoour doing at that moment. When you go to you reserved ride theres a grouper waiting and they will "link" the Q-Bots and they will most likely stop the normal line for a couple of minutes and let you in. Where they let you into the ride depends on what ride you wanna go on. When you reserve a ride you cant reserve another ride while that reservation is still going but right after they scan you Q-bot you can make abother reservation. You can make as many reservations to a ride as you want but only one reservation at a time.

Mr. Six,
Thanks. Very helpful! Can't say I'm a fan of the concept of paying for this, but it sounds like it is fairly well designed.

Didn't they say you could only make 4 reservations?

Yeah I'm very interested to know how many times you can use it.
It'd better be atleast 8 for $30 (for Gold).
Planning on coming the on the 25th of this month and trying to figure out how much money to bring.
Anyone know of any discounts or coupons?
Last year I found coupons for like $20 off or so. This year I can't find anything.
Thanks

There is no limit on number of uses. There is a 10 dollar off coupon in the season pass coupon book. Other than that I haven't seen any coupons for it.
