The new TEA and ERA 2006 theme park attendance figures for 2006 have been released. SFGAm ranked #19 in North American theme parks, and was the 2nd most visited Six Flags theme park (just 110,000 people less than SFGAdv). The park experienced an 8% decrease in attendance. Remember, these aren't the numbers officially released by the park, but are fairly close estimates done by outside companies.
If by "close" you mean they've been off by 500,000 people before then its close... I'd easily say that SFGAm is within their "Margin of Error" So its very possible we had more visitors than SFGAdv. Thats not to say we could have had signifigantly less than they predicted.
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
Wow, what a wasted addition Tatsu was for SFMM. Coming off a year where they added nothing to the park, they opened Tatsu the biggest coaster for them in 3 years and attendence goes down 10%.
And El Toro didn't help sustain much of the attendence that Kingda Ka brought in the year before at SFGAdv.

Guys keep in mind that Six Flags does not release attendance figures, those are merely estimations. I highly doubt that those numbers are anywhere near to the actual numbers this year, yes, attendance did fall, and bad-weather days probably had nothing to do with it, there are bad-weather days every year, and this year had no more then last year at the park, especially in peak season (Which i'm counting as June-July-August-October). Probably one of the biggest reasons as to falling attendance was that 2005 was a banner year, it was probably the best weather they could have hoped for for the addition of Hurricane Harbor. It was hot almost every day, and HH turned out to be extremly popular. Another reason was a lack of advertising. I saw one ad the entire year for Six Flags and it was in May, when many people don't even know the park is open, Tornado was not advertised at ALL!!! No one knew about it! So now that money can be spent on advertising campaigns, including the substantial amount of money being spent on the "You Are Here" Advertising Campaign, I think we can expect an upswing this year, maybe not to the amazing numbers of 2005, but probably beating 2006.
2006 just seemed to have much more rain than usual.

The Point of my post was that bad weather happens. 2005 was pretty mcuh the best summer weather they could have hoped for for the opening of Hurricane Harbor, and 2006 was a normal weather season. 2005 was exceptional and 2006 was slightly less then exceptional, there were many factors, weather included, I just don't think that it's as much of a factor as you are making it out to be. If you compared the "bad-weather days" of 2004 to 2006 I imagine they would be quite similar.
