Opening Day announced officially

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Danhockey04 on February 23rd, 2007, 2:20 pm
Opening Day is May 5th, 10-8

Weekday operation begins Wednesday, May 16, but the next week also has Monday and Tuesday closed.
Weekday operation ceases at the end of August, August 29.
Park closes for regular season on September 22.

Fright Fest begins the first weekend in October (October 6 opens) running every weekend
-Fridays are 5-11
-Saturdays are 10-10
-Sundays are 10-9
-only Monday is 10-6

Overall, there are 8 less days of operation this year compared to last year. Five less days in May alone.
In the regular season to the days open this year compared to last year, there are 3 more hours of operation this year in total.

I dont really want to make another thread for this, so Tony Hawk is returning to SFGAm June 9 and 10. It has been released on this website: HuckJam's official site

Eh it's probably better it will be opening a week later. A better chance of the weather being warmer.

Chances are it will rain

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

I still don't understand why the month of June is 10-9. I see no reason why at least the second half of the month can't be open until 10.

Oh well, what am I complaining about? I will be down in Florida anyway. :)

I miss the days in the May, much smaller crowds.

The weekdays in May the ride lines longer than weekends for the most part. Depending on weather, last few years the weekends have been dead and the weekdays have been semi-crowded due to the insane amount of school groups that visit in May. I am not surprised even with this fact that they'd close a few of those days, school groups will come anyway on the other days the park is open and the park has staffing issues due to it being a weekday with school in session.

One thing i'm really glad to see is that the park opens at 10, with GAdv and MM opening at 10:30 this year it was quite a scare (or at least to me) and its good to see the park is sticking with 10.

I was glad to see the park stick with 10am openings as well. Every other park in the chain (for the most part) went with 10:30 openings, and I can't really figure out why.

And I, too, remember way back when the park started staying open until 10pm the 2nd-3rd week in June all the way to 2nd last week in August. The last couple years they had the park open until 10pm starting the last week of June, but it doesn't look like that will happen this year :(

If I put in a time off request at work for that day, they'd look at me funny and say, No.

And how long did it take you to calculate that obscure statistic?

What happened to the last weekend in April? They decided to skip one weekend this year.

I guess no one goes, and the park isn't profitable. It's probably just to save money. I hate when cororations do that, but I guess they are trying to make money, not happiness.

Guys it's gotta change every year...it's been going back a day every year because that's just how the calender works. May 3rd, May 2nd, May 1st, April 30, April 29...chances are next year will be May 4th, then may 3rd, then May 2nd, then may 1st, then april 30th, then april 29th..and then probably may 5th again. This is probably the least astounding bit of news in the entire offseason and yet people have found a way to turn it into a crisis. It's always around the same time folks.
