5th B&M style to be SFGAm next coaster?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DemonRules on August 5th, 2003, 11:43 pm
Okay, i haven't been to these forums in a few days, so i'm not sure if this has been discussed yet or not, but there are rumors floating around that with the addition of a flying B&M this year....the park is now only 1 type of coaster away from the B&M sweep. It is said that they will build a floorless coaster, giving the park a stand-up, floorless, hyper, inverted, and flying. I think it would be cool to have like the B&M park of the six flags parks...but in the end, would much rather see good money spent on the best coaster you can buy....and that my friends is a rocket.....but anyways, what do you guys think about this rumor?.... 8)

Well thats just your opinion. I'd rather have a coatser that could give the same effect Shockwave did. 7 inversions, tall, long. Not like S:UF,. Id rather have the Floorless.

I have a feeling that their next coaster wont be a B&M. I think that they may be done with them for a while because they alredy have 4 of their coasters. I would rather see them put in an Intamin coaster. That's just how I feel though.

Yeah, but it seems to me that SF has a closer tie with B&M than Intamin. Knowing Great America is another thing. They are the type of park that wants to do something that most other SF parks won't do. So if they would be the first park to have a B&M sweep of coasters, I'm sure they would take the advantage and go along with it. This is just my thought on the matter.

I though I heard somewhere that wintrode is looking into something with S&S-Arrow. Maybe a flats package or even better a thrust air or screaming squirrel.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name

I hope it's a flats package... don't get me wrong, coasters are great, but GAm hasn't installed any new flats since SWT (10-ish years ago?) and before that... well, years, and years, and years!

Flats would be great for the park but since I don't ride them, I would love to see a thrust air come to the park. The screaming squirrel doesn't look all that great to me. Plus, think of the advertising. "Come challenge our new coaster that rockets riders from 0-80 in 1.8 seconds!" sounds alot better than, "Come challenge our newest attraction: Screaming Squirrel!" The second one sounds alot more lame than the first and I think the GP would agree.

I doubt it would be named Screaming Squirrel. That would be like naming Superman just Airial Inversion Ride, or V2 just Impulse. On in RCT terms, naming Superman simply Flying Coaster 1, and V2 just Impulse Coaster 1. It's not often parks will leave the coaster's name it's production name. Sometimes, though, I think parks should leave it. The Flying Coaster at Elitched Gardens would sound better if it was simply Volare... But I hear it sucks anyways.A good name for a Screaming Squirrel though would be Stumbling Fools of Mardi Gras, if they put it in Orlean's Place. Cajun Cliffhanger would work, if they didn't mind reusing the name. It's happend already, there have been 2 rides called Delta Fliers.

I realize that they wouldn't name the coaster screaming squirrel, I was just using it to state my point. I just think it would be alot easier to advertise something that goes really fast or really high. The reason I don't think that I would like the screaming squirrel is because don't like how you are hanging upside down for half of the ride. I don't think it would be all that great having all of your weight pushing your shoulders into the restraints.

After deja vu, sf's is going to go for something reliable (b&m) so when we do get another coaster ill expect to see a floorless, or maybe one of those rumored b&m 4-d coasters, that would be tight

If B&M comes out with a 4-D, which I don't see happening anytime soon, I would expect to see some reliablity issues with it. Just because its a B&M doesn't necessarily mean its going to be reliable right away.

well, B&M, even with new ideas and designs for coasters, usually releases one that is quite reliable right from the get go. i'm not saying there won't be any problems with a B&M 4-D.....but it'll probably work better sooner... 8)

yeah, i really don't want another boring coaster...i want something to knock my socks off. they had been doing pretty good with bull v2 and deja vu, but with the addition of SUF (still a great ride but..) they need another new type.

Well the different tyes of B&M coasters are this:
    InvertedStand-UpSitdownSitdown LoopingFloorlessDive MachineFlying
We have four of the seven. B&M aren't really even making some of the types anymore, ie. sitdown. It was replaced by the floorless. So far we are tied with SFGAdv for most B&M coasters; with four. We have Inverted, Stand-Up, Sitdown, and Flying. They have Inverted, Sit-down, Floorless, and Flying. GAdv has a strong rumor about next year getting a Diving Machine. I highly doubt this though. They are obsolete. Only two were made: Oblivion and G5/The Yellow Submarine. They are highly expensive and are one-trick ponies. I doubt anymore will be installed. So I don't know what's going to happen with future B&M installations. There were also some rumors of them working on the 4-D, and also the Sidewinder project.I think a good plats package would highly improve GAm. I would like to see a Huss Top-Spin, or a Giant Frisbee or Delirium. There are tons of really cool flatrides out there and it would be a good investment on GAm's part, in my opinion.

Oh I know Oblivion. I just never heard that term. That would be a good ride but it looks really funny. I was thinking, since Six flags is really big on cloning, does anybody know if they plan to clone Scream. I wouldn't mind that over here somehow fitted into the park. Or Superman Krypton Coaster I think they would work out really well.

Scream is a mirrored- clone of Medusa. SO its technically been cloned 3 times already.
