Yeah, I ran out of gas today. Luckily I was already in my neighborhood (only one street away) so I just lugged the gas tank for the lawn mower over.

My aunt ran out of gas once and she was in I think by Hinsdale in her Lexus Truck and she forgot to put gas in there so her and her son went to go get some while her daughter stayed there

People, that E in the gas gauge means Empty, which in case you forgot means the car wont go anymore without gas

Its actually a fear of mine that my car will run out of gas.... i make sure i always have a full tank of gas in my car.

That's terrible, in the winter you should never let it go lower than a quarter tank.

During the summer I never let it run below a quarter tank, I've been driving the van lately though so I guess I never really paid attention.

I usually keep my car over 1/2 a tank, especally in the winter. Plus it seems to run better.

One night i left Six Flags with under 1/8 of a tank left...i had no cash and my Shell card didnt work that night...my "low fuel" light came on about 15 minutes before id get home and then the "Fill Tank" message came on my information center about 5 minutes from home. I was barely pushing the gas pedal the whole way home..I ended up stopping at the Shell by my house and i had my mom come with money to fill my tank. I ended up having under .400th of a tank left..

You should always try and keep at least a 1/4 of a tank in your gastank. The reason for this is that there is a motor (gas pump) inside your fuel tank that depends on gas for cooling (odd, isnt it?). So people who consistantly just fill their tank up 5.00 and never fill it at least to the 1/2 mark are running the risk of burning out the motor (not an explosion..the motor will just fail).

I always try to think about it this way..

What if there was an emergency? Either if it was weather or personal related and you needed to leave fast can you imagine going out to a near empty tank of gas? That would suck!

That's why the Dept. of Homeland Security recommend that you always have your tank at least half full, in case you had to evacuate in an emergency.

Theres always help...
If u have a cell phone, get your Roadside Assistance number from the company. They'll come to where u'r standed at and they'll give u like a half a tank of gas to get to your destination or to the quickest gas station. They'll fix your tire, tow your car somewhere u know emergencies like that.

Or if u have a GM car and u have onstar, then you're fine.

If u don't have those things above, your own your own! LOL

Usually there is a charge of about $3.00 per month for roadside assistance. Your insurance company offers the same thing for nothing or about 1/10th that price.
