It looks great down there!! I can not wait for vertical construction to start!! It's going to feel so good seeing another coaster being built in this park. Vertical construction/ testing & pull throughs are my favorite part of the construction process and gets me really excited!! AHHHHH! Can't wait!!

Nope, it's just a "super footer", there will be multiple supports on it. A Super Footer, for example on Bull's turn around next to Viper. That's all one big footer in the center.

Based on this picture, http://rcdb.com/10137.htm?p=36920 which is accurate if your looking from AE, I don't see where a super footer would go there. It looks to be in the right area for the control tower. Interesting, if it is, that Six Flags would put that up now.

off of that subject it looks like you enter and exit the same side but how do u get onto the other side

Looking at the ride animation, there's stairs leading up to the other side, you just can't see them in the concept art.

That's just a rendering to get the GENERAL idea of what the ride will look like. The real footers are circles....they don't look like that in the rendering. The render shows tiny squares. Trust me when I say the super footer is for the multiple supports. It's wider than it is in length anyway....and according to the rendering, the control tower is SQUARE.

They have to wait for everyone to get off of the loading platform before opening the gates for the next train. The queue splits into two when you are about to go up to the station, which hopefully is patrolled for only a few trains worth of people can go up for each side because i've had the pleasure of waiting for X2 after the split even with the line only halfway down the ramp and it probably took an hour from there even with 2 train op.

Correct me if im wrong but once all the footers have been dug and been put into place, isn't there suppose to be some sort of cure period that takes like two weeks in order for all the footers to settle into place or something like that?

^^ I think you may be right. However, since some of those footers were built over a month ago already, they will most likely start installing track on them first.

For B&M's the very first thing always to go up is the storage tracks, transfer track, final brakes and station track.

I know everyone's been happy since the winter has been mild, but if it wasn't and there was snow, how would it change the construction? can they still work in the snow?

Because Iron workers are crazy, and barely anything stops them. I mean, I'm sure a blizzard or something that hampers their visability, but ...

I realize that every ride is different, but how long does a typical steel roller coaster take to build?

It depends how much track there is, what kind of weather is happening, the terrain that the ride is occupying and deadlines. I'd say if everyone really needed it, X flight could go up in 2 weeks or less with large crews and multiple cranes, of course there is no looming deadline and cost is always a priority so if I were to take a wild guess, X flight construction once it goes vertical will probably something like 6-8 weeks, Now if SFGAm was in charge of the construction I'd have to raise the estimate to 6-8 months

Ragin Cajun should have gone from concrete slab to operating coaster in 3-5 days rather than the 2 or so months that it took, though there were other (questionable) factors involved. Though being new from the factory up to 2 weeks would probably have been reasonable.

I don't think RCDB tracks that sort of thing, but if I remember right, Superman went vertical in like Feb and was completed around late March. Raging Bull went vertical in Jan and was completed in Mid March. Deja Vu didn't go vertical til March or even early april and I want to say it was completed around June, though they worked around the park's operating schedule for a while, and construction was delayed due to quickly apparent issues with SFOG's Deja Vu.

Mr Freeze at SFOT went Vertical in Mid March 1997 and was completed on May 8, 1997.

So I guess between 2 and 3 months is pretty standard for most steel coasters, from the first steel going up til the ride is structurally complete (not including any of the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic stuff, etc)

Reminds me of that time they built the SUF support in the middle of the parking lot way the hell away from the ride. Even thought the ride was going to be huge then it turned out to be nothing. Anyone remember that...or know what that was all about?

I remember that. I guess they actually assembled most of the supports out in the parking lot before taking them onto the site proper. Just most of them were the normal 2 pole supports and they laid flat. That 3 legged deal had to stand up, if I remember right it was right near the enterance road as it cuts though the lot, if not in the overflow lot. It was way out there.

Also the trench looks to be for drainage pipes/infrastructure.
