Today a crane arrived at the park and is parked waiting... I could not tell if the crane was for 100 feet or not, but once I got home and upload the picture, I noticed I had the crane make and model and looked it up online and the manufacturers specifications has it listed with a max boom/reach of 197 feet with a contracting company name on the side, so it looks to be for a large project. http://changsfgam2011.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wait, i'm confused. Can you explain to me what you mean by "testing adding events" and why you think they deleted it?
No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.
They basically added an event to their fan page that was labeled "test", so I posted on their wall that the surprise yesterday was going to be some sort of event at the park. I posted a link to the "test" group with the comment, and it disappeared minutes later. The surprise actually ended up being an event, the Facebook Fan Fest, so, I was sort of right
poor wolfie rip ( hopewe get a neww bm wingrider for next year!11!
I also posted this question on the discussion tab inside the fanbook page but i'll ask here also.
I am just curious. How long is the estimated time to build a ride like Chang? I hope that answer will stop the whole rumors as to Chang is coming blah blah.

If and when Chang is announced for our beloved park for 2011, I expect , major construction to start September/October. They SHOULD finish by April/May 2011 not sure knowing delays with weather and this being SF. This will be quite the event for fans as seeing Chang go up will be the biggest thing to happen to the park since 2003/2005.
Which means if they wanted it done by may or June next year( because we all know how good six flags is with getting new rides ready by opeaning day) construction, by that I mean land clearing and collecting all the track, all that stuff. That could start early as Augest right? But a better chance of starting at september so it if it was to start Augest it could be announcned in july (which I doubt) but most likly announced September or early October being how big of a ride is, beacuse I think we all know a ride of 2 is leaving us to make room for itv, I just want to know what ride it will be.

God bless NIU Next SFGAm trip: Today May 1st SFGAm '10 ride count-53
I will again remind everyone that, due to the height of Chang, SFGAm needs to go in front of the Gurnee Zoning Board of Appeals to request a height variance for the ride. Anything over 125 feet that the park builds MUST get approval by the ZBA. Once that is done, the request goes in front of the Village of Gurnee Board for final approval.
Below are the scheduled meeting dates for the ZBA. All meetings are held at the Gurnee Village Hall (325 North O'Plaine Road, Gurnee, Illinois) at 7:30 PM.
Wednesday, April 28 Wednesday, May 26 Wednesday, June 23 Wednesday, July 28 Wednesday, August 25 Wednesday, September 22 Wednesday, October 27
IF Chang is really coming for 2011, I would think that SFGAm would need to go before the ZBA sometime in June or July, so that they can get all the paperwork and stuff processed before they start doing ground clearing / site prep work in the fall. If I remember right, it takes about a month once the ZBA approves the high variance to get that request in front of the Village Board. While it probably won't happen, there is the chance that the ZBA (or the Village Board) rejects the height variance request. It has never happened before (everything the park has asked the village for, they got), but that is something that we also need to keep in mind here. The Village of Gurnee could come back and say NO to SFGAm's request to build Chang.
As most of you know, I am on the mailing list for the meeting agenda's. If SFGAm does show up on the agenda for a given meeting, I will post that information to this thread.
I would only attend if I knew that SFGAm had an item on the agenda. They normally post the agenda about a week before the meeting. The agenda's are posted on the Village Of Gurnee Webpage, at the following URL
So, when the next meeting is less then 7 days away, check that link and see what topics will be discussed.
I will also add that if/when SFGAm does go in front of the ZBA, the public is allowed to attend. My suggestion would be that if you do go, you go as an observer. These are official meetings, and the last thing the park needs is 30 coaster nuts asking tons of questions about the ride, or the park itself. These meetings are NOT the right place to do that. I have been in attendance for the approval process for Raging Bull, Deja Vu, and V2. All 3 meetings did provide a lot of information about the new attraction.
