New Signs around the park

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Aero737 on May 6th, 2003, 9:01 pm
Here is a picture of the new a new sign in GAm. They have simmilar signs around on all the warning placards. It seemed that everyone noticed the new addition to the rules. In addition to the signs, they also verbally remind the riders once and a while saying that "Six Flags is now a food/gum on ride free park."Do you guys think we will start seeing similar warnings given out at all the other Six Flags themeparks? I would think that SF wouldn't want to get sued, and they realized they left a fairly big weakness in the rules. They never did have a sign saying No Gum on the rides, I guess it was implied.http://members.aol.com/crabtreesbus/SFGAm/sign.gif

"Chewing Gum or candy are not permitted"Is that a gramatical error? It sure sounds wrong.

yeah it is a gramatical error. Chewing gum or candy IS not premitted. I think all the signs are like that.

Maybe they don't mean the verb "chewing" but "chewing gum" as a noun, like "bubble gum."

I understood it like chewing gum as an item, and candy as another item. In that case, it is correct.

it's not a grammatical error, it is one word "chewing gum" and when you put 2 things together, like chewing gum and candy, the article is "are". you only use "is" when it's singular. sorry, i can't help it, i've taken so many grammar and AP English classes.. I have no choice but to remember stupid crap like that... lol

lol but why would it be chewing gum? is there a non-chewing gum or another type of gum you would bring on a coaster?

no, but the technical name for gum is chewing gum. you didn't know that? a lot of people just call it gum, but look on gum, it probably says chewing gum on the package.

Yeah it really is chewing gum. The sign doesnt have a grammatical errror on it either. It should say that chewing gum and candy are not permitted instead of chewing gum or candy are not permitted.

I dunno, this is getting confusing. I'm not sure about using "or" but it sounds right because if you put "is" instead of "are", it doesn't sound right at all. i think it's right but i dunno :?

I agree that french is hard but a study proved that english is one of the hardest languages to learn. I think chinese should be considered one of the hardest.

I think we should get rid of the french language all together because its really confusing. especially those stupid irregular verbs  . french is hard enough and they just had to make irregular verbs.

yeah, personally, i don't really like the french. shhh, loli just think everytime we need them to back us up, they stick their noses up (iraq) but then they're nice when they need us.. here's a joke for ya:why did the french build trees along all their highways?so the germans could march in the shade!i mean come on, the french ran w/ their tails between their legs during WW2 while hitler paraded paris on his horse like a fricking moron! we went in and helped, if it wasn't for us, all those french airheads would be speaking german right now. haha sorry, i'm going off on a tangent.rent the dvd, robin williams live on broadway.. it was on HBO if ne of u saw it u'll know what i'm talking about. it's hilarious and he cracks on the french sooo much. it's great... sorry if i offended anyone :?but yea, english is the hardest because we put our verbs in a different order and we have the most slang. almost ALL other countries are like this: pants blue while we say blue pants. lolwe're messed up. haha but japanese and chinese are weirder! haha, this topic had nothing to do with rides.. sorry.... lol

Im part french and im kinda ashambed that I am. I mean the french are weak and they are cowards. the only war they ever won was the french revolution and that was against other french people.

yeah, i just really hope i don't offend anyone. my mom is 75% french, i guess i don't really have a problem with people who ARE french but just the government and the people that act like that. people who are nice when they need something and then stick their noses up when you need help and that is what the french seem to be the best at. i was so shocked when i found out they weren't going to back us. i wish i would run into jaques chirac (their prez) just once, i would tell him what i thought even if they DID hold me in CONTEMPT!! haha, sorry, the one thing i love more than coasters is politics so if u ever have a question, ask.. haha... i guess that's why i'm going into political science and prelaw. english and history, i love em! i know, i'm weird haha
