I wonder if this will be the end of the Mardi Gras section? Now that Ragin cajun, Jesters Wild Ride and King Chaos are history. I wouldn't mind if they converted the whole Mardi Gras Section into Yankee Harbor, and converted the current Yankee Harbor into a Gotham themed area.

I would mind that, because it would be an extreme waste. Converting sections costs money. I'd rather they spend the money on pretty much anything else. Also, "Yankee Harbor" in a area that doesn't have water (yes, yes, Roaring Rapids, but it's barely even seen from the midway) seems strange. Also, lands at Great America (except kiddie areas) are themed after sections or periods of America. Always have been (and, yes, I know, "Metropolis Plaza", but nobody really considers that a real area, do they?). As Gotham is not a section of America, not a fan.
Yankee Harbor is pretty much just a name now. None of the rides (Besides Yankee Clipper) have anything to do with the area. I would love to see this trend stop, but sadly it doesn't seem like it will. There was a short revival back in 2004-2006 When Six FLags added themed rides to their proper areas (Mardi gras, Kingda Ka, El Toro, Tatsu) But that trend doesn't seem to be coming back. The idea I had about converting Yankee Harbor into Gotham City and Mardi Gras into Yankee Harbor, is just an idea attempting to salvage what's left of the themeing.
SFGAm is an amusement park, not a theme park. I really don't care so much. Sure it is nice but if I want theming I'll pay for it elsewhere, not at a Six Flags park. And I don't have a problem with that.

Themed sections & themed attractions? It's a theme park in my opinion. Buttttt I would love a definition on each.
Great America may have started out as a Theme Park when it was opened by Marriot, however I don't consider Six Flags a theme park chain. I agree with Dan if I want themeing I'm heading to Disney or Universal. When I think of Six Flags I simply think of rides and roller coasters. Sure there may be some theming but unlike most of you it doesn't affect me so much when a ride doesn't match a particular area anymore. I think after the 00's Six Flags kinda just gave up with themes and thats fine for me.
The only upside of have a parent as a science teacher, lol.

I bet it goes earlier - #1, they may not want special event type things on opening weekend, and, even moreso #2, this year they opened April 14th for "preview weekend" (which was announced late), and seeing as Six Flags big thing now is making seasons as long as possible, I doubt they go backwards...

Based on the Magic Mountain leak, we are in for some strange ride names this year.
So I think the news channel had the clip sent to them, they must've accidentally leaked it, and some people prolly downloaded the video. Overall I think this could be a new meta for six flags
Not sure if this is new info or not but if you google "six flags great america newsroom 2018" a link for a 2018 Season picture pass comes up, though when clicking the page it says it doesn't exist. I believe they already offer a season picture pass but maybe the 2018 one has more benefits/a different price?
I'd love something like that at SFGAm (probably). If KC's spot remains vacant after tomorrow's announcements I could see one coming in 2019.
Also, when will the flash pass sale end? I won't be around this weekend, need to know if I need to scramble to get one Friday night and or Monday night.
Who else is excited to see what color the cups will be next year

Didn't even think of that. I'm thinking orange and purple cups next year.
