Best Option?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

My friends and I are planning a Six Flags trip coming up next month. We are at a stand-still on a few things and I could use your opinions.

One of my friends feels that her back is going to hurt her if we stay the whole day. I suggested that, for a few hours, to give everyone a rest (including her back), we go on some of the smaller less ferocious rides and do other activities. Besides riding the Carousel and Star Treck Tower, what are some other things that we could do that wouldn't cost a terrible amount of money?

Also, this is for you adults/parents, it's another one of my friend's birthday and she wanted to bring us back to her house for a celebration outside of Six Flags. There are 8 people in the group. Would it be wiser to take the bus home and arrive at maybe 9-10 PM and celebrate, celebrate at the park, or have 2 parents drive 2 different cars to bring us back home earlier? I'm asking you because I know you see the options from a different point of view than I do.

Thanks for your help :)!
Last Visit, American Eagle BACKWARDS 5 times in a row right before the park closed. I cannot WAIT to go back for Fright Fest!

Check out Great America Idol. You can sit and watch the LOL's. I would also check out Pictorium for a little park history.
You feel like paradise

You can ride some of the more family flat rides like Triple Play, Whirligig, Condor, and Big Easy Balloons. Forget Fiddler's Fling & Ricochet because those are stronger rides than those other 4. Roaring Rapids could get to your back a little bit because of the bumps, so I wouldn't say to go on that. I guess you could go on Buccaneer Battle -water ride. The train might be open by next month. As onyx said, there are some shows playing. It depends what time in June you are coming because some of the music shows probably open up middle of June. The Pictorium will be open by June, but they have a pop show, and a country music singing show (I don't know if they are exactly doing the country one this year, but there is supposed to be a fake Gunfight thing in Southwest Territory)..

For Great America, I think it's better to take 2 cars home than take a bus. The thing with the bus is that I think at the end of the day at the park if you miss that bus, that is the only bus that is going to come. It's not like a CTA bus where they are going to come every 45 minutes, and if you are late, so you take the next one.
Ilovigo-- Me = Dopey; just trying to get another kiss from Snow White. |Remember you don't know what you got until it's gone. That ride you liked might be in the dump next year. Or if you lose a leg, you can't ride much of anything. Cherish what you have now.

Just leave your friend at home. I can't stand bringing an "anchor" with that has some issue while everyone else is trying to have a good time.

My rule of thumb is, if you can't keep up with me, you're not coming with me.

+1.

Sounds to me like someone's warning you that they are a wet blanket. Beware, there will be more than back issues. Not stay the whole day? Humbug. Ride the storm out.

You could always just split up into two groups when a few people need a rest and a few people don't. You get to keep going on the A-list rides, they get to browse the merchandise or watch a show. Just make sure to set a specific time and place to meet up later--and make sure someone in each group has a phone so you can get in touch if need be while you're separated. This is standard theme park theory ;-)

And if that's not good enough for them if you run it by them before you head out to the park, then I agree with others, you really should just leave them home. Great America is too awesome--and too expensive--to drive all this way just for half the day.
