OK so it didn't take long to get my first taste of French culture...a protest going on in the hallways in the airport. These people were demanding more pay by marching through the airport blowing whistles and chanting.

The plaque was specially made for this park

Image
Main Street USA

Image
It is noticeable in Disneyland Paris that the park is designed with much more detail than the American Parks. Here you can see Main Street is lined with bricks instead of asphalt

Image
The classic Disneyland view

Image

Image
Flower Street is a street in California where the design office for Disneyland Paris was located

Image
Other views of Americana

Image
It has a nice mix of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom buildings, including Casey's Corner (MK) and Gibson Girl (DL). Because of the bad weather in France it also has covered streets on both sides of Main Street on the other side of the buildings that are incredibly well themed.

Image

Image
The stage was covered with tarps in the morning to prevent it from getting icy, but by time for the first show it was uncovered

On the right of the hub is Discoveryland

Image
But first we went to Fantasyland. For those unfamiliar with this park, the chief Imagineer on the project Tony Baxter did not think that a fiberglass castle similar to the American/Japanese Disney's would go well in France because of it's close proximity to real castles. They decided on a more fantasy-like castle that is unlike other European castles, and "Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant," or Sleeping Beauty's Castle is the result. The inside is incredibly detailed, they hired a famous French painter out of retirement to paint the stained glass windows, and there is an animitronic dragon under the castle.

Winter in France is not exactly theme park weather

Toad Hall here is home to an eatery, not a ride like in California

Fantasyland is very well themed including the gift kiosks

Space Mountain Mission 2 line

Image

Image
This Space Mountain is not themed to the future since there is no Tomorrowland at Disneyland Paris, Discoveryland is themed to old European authors (such as Jules Verne) vision of the future. This Space Mountain is themed to being shot out of a cannon to the moon. It opened in 1995 and was renamed in 2005 to Space Mountain: Mission 2 with new music and effects.

Its a Vekoma launched coaster similar to Rockin' Rollercoaster but the launch is on an upward hill and the LIMs launch you out of the cannon into space

Everything looks pretty much exactly like the movie

Image
Rode Autopia next

Image
All of the Autopia/Speedway attractions are very different

Image
Brought my drivers license with me

Image

Image
This one is long and windy

Image
Where to go?

Image

Image

Image
It's quite incredible the park can maintain this level of detail in the landscaping all over the property in the raw/cold winter

Image
Time to visit the Imagination Institute

Image

Image
Kodak still sponsores Captain EO here

Image
Subtitles are only in English and French, some of the shows preshows have a bunch of languages

Image
Yay for my third EO credit, the first part ("The cosmos") is in French and the rest of the show is in English

Image
You can buy this awesome Captain EO hat in the gift shop

Image
We saved Star Tours for the week when it was less busy

Image
Videopolis is a massive quick service eatery

Image
Videopolis' outside eating area, not a very popular place during the winter

Image

Image
Its hard to get a picture of how big the place is, there are 3 floors all about this size

This ride is extremely well themed

Pinocchio was next, Cleo and Figaro details are on the sides of the vehicles

No animated movie is complete without a hustler fox

Let this be a lesson to you kids, this is what happens when you sell yourself to a traveling gypsy

After the ride you have the option to exit through the gift shop

The next morning before visiting the Studios we had breakfast at Disney's Hotel Cheyanne

Image
Its very authentic

Image

Image
In the area between the two parks is the public transit station that was made specially for the Disneyland Resort. The land its on and directly in front of it is public land, so there are salesmen selling their novelties right in front of the station between the parks but if they cross the imaginary line to Disney property they can be told to move back.

Image
We were there early in the morning so nobody was really there yet, but you can see having this is a huge plus for DLRP

Image

Image
The Walt Disney Studios park!

Image

Image
Instead of having the typical gates for strollers to enter through, they have these themed entrance doors. Another example of the great amount of detail in the parks

Image
The parks enters through this large building that houses the main shops and Brown Derby, one interesting thing about this property is that between the covered walkways behind Main Street at Disneyland and this building at the Studios, these parks are made for the typically rainy/cold French weather.

Image
This park is like a mix of DCA and DHS

Image
Tower of Terror is the same as DCA's, I think this is my favorite Tower though because of the AMAZING view of the Disneyland Hotel at the top

Image
Heres something you don't typically see in California, Tower with a line! (and people dressed for cold weather)

Image

Image

Image
The ride is in French

Image
Up next was the Armageddon Special Effects Show

Image

Image
The preshow is translated in six different languages

Image
Lights, Motors, Action!

Image
Rockin' Rollercoaster Avec Aerosmith

Image
Tour de Force records

Image

Image
Toy Story Playland, new for the New Generation Festival

Image
RC Racer, a non-spinning Intamin halfpipe and the most popular attraction in Toy Story Playland

Image
The fencing in Toy Story Playland is made of K'Nex

Image
And the walls are made of Domino's

Image
This rides capacity is not stellar, i'm kind of surprised it was only posted at 80

Welcome to Tour de Force records

Image
AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip Tour was the first concert I ever went to

Image

Image
You walk by the control area Mission Space style

Image
The ride doesn't really have a story like WDWs, but it has a sick light show on the ride!!

Image

Image
Staying with the American theme, there is a Chicago themed steakhouse in Disney Village

Image
This is the second busiest McDonalds anywhere

Image
Rafiki

Image
Rode RC Racer next

Image
Part of the queue

Image
The other part of the queue

Image

Image
The queue is themed to roads going around cones...get it?

Image
Animation building was next, after this preshow it had a nice film showing off some of the classic Disney animated movies

Image
Animation building

Image
Done this same acting thing at 3 parks now

Image
Im glad they didn't settle with this early version of Beast

Image
I drew a really good Mickey Mouse

Image
This ride is anti-French!!

Image
The cars do not fit 4 adults

Image
This ride is a lot like Francis' Ladybug Boogie

Image

Image
Slink's queue railings are made out of Lincoln Logs

Image
Slinky's safety sign

Image
This view reminds me a lot of Flik's Funfair at DCA...it looks almost exactly the same!

Image
Time for Turtle Talk with Stitch

Image
It was interesting hearing Stitch speak French...he does speak English in select shows but I came all the way here....so I saw it in French

Image
Crush's Coaster is one of the most popular rides in the park, and the queue plays the same music as the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavillion at Epcot

Image
It's a fantastic Maurer Sohne spinning coaster with a dark ride section and coaster section

Woke up early the next morning to do some sight seeing

Image
On this map you can see how far they extended the rail just for Disneyland

Image
This is where Princess Diana was killed

Image

Image
The French government used to make people dig holes here for welfare

Image

Image
Theres a random traveling double decker carousel next to the Eiffel Tower? Its like being at Kings Island and Great America at the same time

Image
And theres a teacup on the carousel

Image
These water cannons are not used during the winter

Image
They are building a new coaster here

Image

Image
COLD

Image
It was really cold, windy, and freezing rain. So naturally we took the stairs up the Eiffel Tower

Image

Image

Image
Going up

Image

Image
Still climbing up

Image

Image
Had to get the "typical Paris subway station" shot

Image

Viva la France!

The city has underground tunnel walkways, reminded me of the Magic Kingdom

They took part of the wall that used to surround Paris and relocated to an underground area that has now turned into a mall

Image

Image
SANCTUARY!

Image
The Cathedral of Notre Dame is beautiful, gothic architecture at it's finest

Image

Image

Image
For those wondering, yes you can run from the law and hide in the Cathedral and they cannot arrest you...until you are starving and inevitably leave

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
In Paris you have to pay to use any of the restrooms, kind of like how you can charge people to use the restroom in RCT. Took this picture in a McDonalds

Image
At this place it is 0.50 euros to use the restroom

Image
Sleek new convention center in the middle of a bunch of old Parisian architecture

Image

Image
I was a little intrigued by this sign until I realized pain is French for bread

Image
Ok back to Disneyland...here's something I never thought i'd go on again

Image

Image
About to go to Endor

Image
Blue lighting package in futuristic exit paths are neat

Image
It was strange being able to go on the classic dark rides without the long lines

Image
Jackass

Image
In case no ones ever noticed, the track on Snow White is themed

Image
The exterior of Pirates

Image
Tried to get a picture of all the costumes...heres the male Pirates jacket

Image
Female Pirates costume and female Pirates jacket

Image
On Pirates here it takes your picture during the drop

Image
Theming in the area where you can buy your Pirates on-ride photo

Image
This ride wasn't as rough as it looked, but that doesn't mean it was any good either

Image

Image
The theme is a bit generic, after the park opened they needed something quick that would attract people and ended up with this

Image
There is an awesome Wild West Dinner show in Disney Village, great food (and show!) It's also kind of funny seeing all the Europeans wearing and waving around their cowboy hats that are distributed

Image

Image
Euro Disney Rail Road

Image
And thats it!
