With Six Flags Great America opening
this weekend. The park has been
working all winter in preparation for the season so let’s
take a look at what will be different this year.
New at the Park
Wiggles World
– Children’s Area – County Fair
2007 is the year of the Wiggles as Six Flags unveils a brand-new
park area full of rides and attractions designed especially
for children two-to-six years old. Featuring the music of
best-selling, international "kid-pop" sensations,
The Wiggles, Wiggles World is the perfect theme park experience
for families with young children. Also a children’s
restaurant “The Yummy Yummy Café” will
be in Wiggles World in the former spot of Bleachers. Wiggles
World replaces the old American Eagle entrance plaza.
Adults can go on all of the Wiggles
rides as long as they are accompanied by a child. Here is
the minimum height restrictions for a child to ride alone
(there is no min if accompanied by an adult).
Big Red Cars - 36"
Big Red Planes - 48"
Dorthy's Rosy Teacups - 36"
Bouncing With Wags - 36"
Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad Tower Ride - 42"
There are also numerous 37" tv
monitors around Wiggles World that play clips from the show.
The Wiggles gift shop is right under Revolution on the Wiggles
side of the midway.
Operation Spygirl
– Stunt Show – Southwest Territory
Be
part of the action as Six Flags Great America unveils a superhero
phenomenon. From the creator of the hit television show "24,"
Six Flags Great America is proud to present Operation Spy
Girl—the ultimate stunt show. Don't miss out on the
excitement of this brand-new show, running from Memorial Day
to Labor Day. Located in the Southwest Territory Amphitheater.
Flash Pass – Technology
by Lo-Q
The Flash Pass - SFGAm is the first park to get this new lo-q
system. Instead of reserving at the rides entrance, you can
electronically join the queue making a reservation on your
q-bot, and you can queue for one ride at a time. The integration
points are the same as they were before however rides hold
the line at the integration point (bottom of the stairs for
most rides) which will make a shorter wait. The regular Flash
Pass cost $20, the price for a Gold Flash Pass is $30. The
maximum wait for a ride using a Gold Flash Pass is 15 minutes.
If a ride goes down for an extended period the team member
working Flash Pass at that ride uses his own q-bot to cancel
everyones reservation for it, and the message conveys to everybody
electronically queueing for it. The Flash Pass sales center
is still in the same location in Hometown Square but is bigger
because there is a "Flash Pass Briefing Room."
The rides that use it are: Déjà
Vu, Superman Ultimate Flight, Roaring Rapids, Batman The Ride,
Loggers Run, Vertical Velocity. Iron Wolf, Raging Bull, Giant
Drop and Whizzer
The
Return of Triple Play – Hometown Square
After a one season stint at Six Flags Over Texas, Triple Plays
center hub is back at the park and the ride will be operating
again at the start of the season after being absent all last
season.
Celebrate the Joy! –
Daytime Parade – County Fair
New mid-day parade located at the back of the park. This parade
has all new parade floats.
SHOWSTOPPIN! – Grand
Music Hall - Hometown Square.
A new show with contemporary tunes from rock-n-roll to country.

Thanks to new partnership agreements,
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream will now be served at Firehouse
Pizza in Hometown Square, and Cold Stone Ice Cream will have
its own outlet in County Fair at Farmers Market. Also, the
old Wascals restaurant, next to Wiggles World, is being changed
into a Johnny Rockets restaurant.
Kodak
is now taking the pictures at the front of the park and near
Loggers Run. Everybody that gets their picture taken gets
a "My Six Flags Photos" card where they can view
and order their pics online at www.mysixflagsphotos.com.
The "My Six Flags Photos" main building is in Carousel
Plaza in the same location where Six Flags used to sell the
photos.
New guest with disablity ride access
policy, the main change from previous years is that now, instead
of allowing three people to come through the exit with the
disabled guest, only one is allowed. Those who have more in
their party, the park now requires that two members of the
party wait in line while the other two wait in the exit, then
when the people waiting in line get up to the ride, they can
all ride at the same time. Everybody with a disability pass
must wait the same as the regular standby queue.
New misters are located throughout
the park. The cool media misters are located near: Trudy's
Sweet Shop, Jesters Wild Ride, Attitudes, Viper's entrance.
The companys website is www.coolmediausa.com
Noticeable Ride
Rehabs / Upgrades
American Eagle both tracks have been
re-tracked from the top of the lift to the large helix. Also
because of Wiggles World, the entrance is being re-located.
The new American Eagle entrance is located in Daredevil Dive’s
entrance building, and the queue extends up parallel to the
lift and drop, where it will connect with the existing queue
bridge.
Demon’s red train is coming out
of extensive rehab which will allow the ride to run three
trains again after running two trains all of last year.
Trailblazer, the Zamperla Joker ride
in Southwest Territory, has been removed from the park.
The seatbelts were removed from Columbia
Carousel.
Other random maintenance rehab projects
to ensure rides operate smoothly for years to come, including:
a complete mechanical rehab on Whirlgig, and many other small
ride maintenance projects throughout the park.
As always, painted buildings, new signs,
etc will be popping up around the park.
