Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I was looking at old Whizzer photos and noticed that it originally had a white and red paint scheme...

^Copy n' paste.
Now it has a dark green paint scheme...
What year was the paint scheme changed?

If you're linking from greatamericaparks.com, it won't work. Unfortunately, you'll have to give up because it has hotlink protection enabled.
Anyways, probably around the time the station was repainted from the orange and white it originally had. Not sure when that took place, though.

I really like the paint scheme now, it "fades" with its surrounding enviroment.

Yeah, My mom says she remembers when it was colored like that. I like green though because it blends better with the trees.

I like the colors now, however, it is in desperate need of a new paint job. They should seriously consider painting it over the off season.

What a difference. I'm surprised I never knew it had been a different color scheme.

A side note to the original paint job, the ride included headlights and taillamps. But becuase they are actually Mercedes-Benz parts, the park decided not to replace them when they were broken or stolen. Benz parts are expensive in the US, whereas in Germany (where the ride was made)they are pretty cheap.

I think it would've looked better with the red/white colors. It stood out more and made the park more colorful. It is better now green though since the trees have grown taller and red/white would look weird with green trees everywhere.
