Splash water falls...

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Please read entire article before thinking its too stupid

Ive been thinking about another way to bring a coaster to great america by REMOVING SPLASH WATER FALLS...just a thought, I know youre thinking why would he suggest that?

I really would like to boost our coaster count up, because I feel awful competition with SFGAD. I really like Intamin WATERCOASTERS. There is a nice little plot of land within that area if it wasnt there. Splash water falls is an excellent, soaking way to cool off, so I thought we could get another ride like it but put more thrill, height and speed into it making it a coaster as well. Im not suggesting an Intamin vertical splash boats, I mean a coaster. It would however have to rise on a really steep lift angle and drop extremley steep as well.....thats why I thought of Intamin, theyre ready to accomplish anything abnormal! The coaster would also rise a little over the east section of the railroad. Thats extra land because it can rise OVER the tracks.

This coaster would rise about 115-130ft. on a steep 50-65 degree lift then drop down from the lift. It would then go into a small rising 90 degree overbank...Then a steep (75-80 degree) drop into a tiny hill and a huge splash that litterally soaks riders leaving them in awe and need for more.

I know it sounds dumb, but its ok to dream :( I drew so many different designs just thinking about ideas last night...tell me what you think positive or negative!

Sounds like a cool idea. But what about the car ride? Wouldn't that get people get wet even though they don't want to get wet?

Wow, good thinking...um the wave SWF gives off now is pretty big so I honestly would have to say no, but im no expert. Put it this way, youve seen Sheikras photos....yes? Well look at the restruraunt beside the "splash zone" it doesnt get wet as Im aware of so...I dont truly know. The design has water going straight up and back...Its all about design...look at Poseidon, the design of the boats are made with a certain curve in front to have the water go forward and divide it to the sides as well. So maybe(?), the design could be adjusted so the water shoots directly backward upon riders...but that sounds a little impossible.

I kind of like your idea, it seems cool and something SF might actually do. But in my opinion, our next coaster should be some kind of floorless. Maybe starting in Picnic Gove, going past Iron Wolf and going back with a helix or a cobra roll. The coaster would be around 155-165ft with 7 or more inversions. I don't think 4,400ft would be too bad of an estimate for the length.

Good idea, but I think the area is too small. SF might be able to fit a euro fighter in that area, but that will just be a dream. If they were to remove a water ride for a coaster, I would want it to be Ice Mountain/Splash Loggers Run or Roaring Rapids. ICM/LR do not bring in that large or crowds(they havem't when I've been there). They could fit a good floorless or a small rocket there, but thes will probably only be dreams.

No way man, not in county fair :? Im talking about taking out SWF, a water ride and replacing it with a water coaster. This way the GP doesnt lose their drenching attraction, they gain an extra thrilling experience with all the splash. Theres no way a rocket(accellerator) could fit, thats too cramped in my opinion. With this water coaster you can place the splash stretch where SWF's is now and possibly making it a tad longer, saving a bit of space. And dont forget with Intamin they can even place magnetic brakes in the water like PP at knotts or HYDRO at oakwood letting the splash zone to be shorter yet still producing a great splash upon riders. 8)

Well, I'm a big fan of Splashwater Falls so I can't completely agree with that...

What about a roller-soaker like the one in Hersheypark? That would be cool!

That would but It'd be fun in HH. I just think the GP would want something tall and fast with a great drop, they love drops and inversions. Like for example, I hate it when I hear people complain that RagingBull has no "loops" they just dont understand variations I guess. So this replaces SWF with a "badder" version if you will, and gives the GP the thrill they want....plus more coasters for SFGAM  , even though this year they should ALL be going to SFST.LOUIS, SFKK, and SFEG.

As long as they make it less like Dive to Athens at Mt. Olympus and more like Poseidon, i would be all for it!

I thought you could draw more people to a ride that promises more thrill and a more gigantic wave of a soaking  I know it may not be totally needed but its like Kennywoods phantom...it was built new and different to give a better thrill. people love it there....
