da rcman2001, I am not commenting on Blood River. This conversation is hard to follow but are you saying there will be no Blood River because of the deaths in New Orleans? If so, then I apologize, I was only saying that Mardi Gras and Orleans Place are two completely separate sections. I had no idea this had anything to do with Blood River until I read your post.
Cs6153, take a look at the park map. If it was a section within a section, wouldn't it look like CCN or LTNP? It wouldn't be labeled as "Mardi Gras" but rather with a number. Just about everyone else on these boards agrees...it's a separate section.
oh, well since your going to be babies about it..no more comment.. I just wanted to show the quote from the SFGAM press release
Jugglers O Death are suppsed to be in Snowshoe Taphouse this year. I am happy I will not have to shiver while I watch them.
I am suprised though that Elvis is going to be in Mardi Gras and that Manny B will be at the HOmetown Train stattion. It should be the other way around.

I think that's becuase of the Area 51 theme. Elvis would look way weird next to the aliens and commandoes. Meanwhile they can proabaly just keep going while Manny's Playing.
And BTW Da RCman. I'm not trying to start a fight, and I'm not in anyway trying to bash katrina victims (In fact i'm organizing a concert that will help katrina victims) but i'd just like to comment that Mardi Gras is a catholic holiday. And while it is celebrated wildly in New Orleans, it is in fact, a religious holiday.
What was the point of that post? Mardi Gras is a catholic holiday. It is the day before Lent begins, because if one is catholic one is supposed to fast (or something) during lent, so Mardi Gras was a day to indulge.
dude listen, i don't take too kindly to ppl ho try to bash me because u don't know me and it's really ticking me off so if you would so kindly not to talk to me that would be great....OK?
yeah god, you both are being 15. ok, i think that we should get back on topic now. ummm............. i cant wait for FF. I miss is so much and its really cool!?!
Ahem...the Mardi Gras New Orleans thing...wow a silly discussion of semantics.
Mardi Gras was the New Orleans section (or at least the last half of it) 'till a couple years ago. (or last year...god it seems so much longer ago...)
Tim Black (then GM) unveiled the "new section" of the park...which consisted of...one new sign, practically no new theming (it doesnt take much to make Mardi Gras from an already New Orleans themed area). He added 3 new carnival style rides (look at Rajin Cajun sometime...it's held together by pins...PINS...that is how a carnival/fair holds together rides, not really comforting on a permanant structure.) Mardi Gras is a "seperate" section only as it was an inexpensive way to reveal "new" things last year...it was just a marketing gimick. Not gonna lie, it left a real sour taste in my mouth, it was a cheap trick pulled on the GP, so sorry for the cynical acid tone.
The Blood River...tied as closely to Orleans as Mardi Gras is (Let's be honest, they are darn near inseperable...yes it is religious, but no where in the world except maybe carnivale in S. America is it celebrated like in N'awlins. It is generally a bit more solomn, and has some religious overtones...lacking in the home grown version). ..ahem that aside, the Blood river, tied as closely to Nawlins as Mardi Gras is perhaps in bad taste. I can see the point...I just disagree. I think, hey it's friggen Fright Fest. People are supposed to be scared, so SCARE them. PC should not be the Park's first priority. Remember the SkyTrekTower in 2002? That year they had the smoke and fire...WITHOUT the ape. Where is the Fright Fest with balls that clank, that grab a current social issue (be it 9/11 or Katrina) and make it SCARY. It would be better because it is REAL. And I think far more effective at really unsettling us.
meh...long rant...
~long live Fright Fest~
...Here's hoping they don't wimp out and make new orleans place a "not so scary-territory" out of "respect" for Katrina Victims...
