Grrrr! These prices are sickening and ridiculous. This is robbery!
OK, before you blame this crisis on the President, let me state a little something. One of the major causes of an oil crisis like this is the lack of refineries. Because there are not even half the number of refineries in operation as there were in 1981 not as many barrels of crude oil can be processed in a day. Why no one has bothered to fix up the defunct refineries beats me. This is one major reason which is driving oil, gas, and diesel prices skyward, plus the demand.
Let me illustrate: just imagine four windows at a ticket booth, two of them in operation, and the line stretching for miles. Imagine the cream puff place at the Wisconsin State Fair with half the staff at the busiest time. That's the way it is with crude today, and it's a crude statement.
I believe if all the oil refineries in the country were in operation, prices would be different today.

Remember how many Oil Refineries there were BEFORE the war? ya, remember watching the news and they showed our people BLOWING UP the oil Factories and ultimatly DESTROYING many of the refineries
Ok here we go. Gas prices will indefnitely be skyrocketing this week to unimaginable proportions due to recent events. I am now getting to wonder some what if's...
If we were to run out of oil, which people said I was crazy for thinking could happen just a few years ago, how would SFGam stay in business? I assume the park couldn't be profitable off attendance from whomever bikes/walks to the park. Could this be the last year for coasters?
For what it's worth it just went to 3.09/gal in Milwaukee this morning. As for getting on topic I still plan on several fright fest visits and one Halloweekend visit to CP. I already bought tickets and booked my room for CP so all I hope for is manageable prices until after that weekend, then I really don't care what happens.
Gas is scheduled to go Up 20 cents with in the week in Racine, wisconsin. From 2.67/Gal to 2.87/Gal....maybe higher... i will so be riding my bike to work. But they expect maybe the prices will fall again after the holiday....you cannot completely base the gas HICK on recent us events in the south.....gas was scheduled to skyrocket during the labor day weekend and before anyway, but will most likely drop after the holiday
they are talking 3 if not $4 a gallon in the next few months, Yes it will hit six flags but not too bad considering six flags is almost over.
During the winter it is closed so they wont care about attendance since they are closed but if this happens by next april then look for a big dissapointment for six flags next year.

Everything you said there is wrong. Even school buses get like 3 miles per gallon. Your Expedition probably gets between 10-15 mpg. Either your car is f'd up or you have no idea what you are talking about.
Also, it's much further than 500 miles to Florida.
First off don't tell me I'm wrong because I'm not I was there I should know. And I wasn't talking about milage I meant that it was $500 on the way there and $500 on the way back. I know how far it is it's like 1250 miles to where we went.

It's 250 miles fron chicago to St. Louis. Why would you own a vehicle that gets half a mile to the gallon, that's showing the world you have a sucker face at the gas pump. Even escalade or a H2 hummer gets better mileage.
They get 14 miles to a gallon. My sourse is ABC 7 News. And it's not even my car it's my sister's. And how exactly would that show that I have a sucker face???
Having a vehicle or that's what you had everyone on the forum think when didn't specifically say it was your sister's having only get 14 miles to the gallon. You are going to the pump wasting your money on the that gas guzzler. It cost you $10 to go down the block.
It must be worth it to you.
It's funny to see people driving a Suv with just them as the only people in the vehicle when I see Suv's as carrying a big family around.

It's an expression you've obviously never heard before. It means you are willing to pay whatever gas stations charge you for gas. (By the way, these are the people that raise demand, thus raising the cost for gasoline in the long run.)
We have no choice but to pay what the gas stations have to offer or we can't get anywhere even if we don't like the prices.
To clearify things my sister's family and I went to Florida. Between going there and coming back, (about 2,500 all together) plus some additional driving there is cost about $900. I asked her and that's what she said so it wasn't quite $1000. So it was about $450 going there and $450 coming back.
I personally would get a different car that doesn't cost so much money in gas so no I don't think it's worth it.
As of right now my sister and her family aren't is the position to get a new car so they are kind of stuck with it. She got it last year when the prices weren't as high but little did we all know.
It's now $2.89 up here in Wausau, Wi; and $2.99 where my parents live up in the U.P. of Michigan. I can barely afford to drive to work and home, let alone 3 hours to SFGAm.
I think I am going to ask for my gas expenses to be paid for from the girl that hit me. I have to drive out to Roselle (never heard of it) and then to Country Club Hills today to get my estimates done. They are over an hour away from each other!! That's gonna be allot of gas!!

So you have to pay what the gas stations charge, but it's all based on the simple principle of supply and demand. When you are driving a car that gets 1/2 mile per gallon, you obviously don't care much about your car's fuel economy.
Yesterday as I was leaving for SFGAm there was only one station on the way there that wasn't $2.99. It was the Marathon right by my house and had a line backed up around 2 blocks to get in because it was 30 cents cheaper.
A 30 cent raise in one night.

Gas now in the Milw area in $ 3.29 a gallon, another 30 cent raise over night.
And when gassed up on Sunday night it was $2.69 a gallon, thats alot to go up in a couple of days for gas that was purchsed and put in the tanks before the any of this happened.
If there is any possible good side to this, i hope the park is slower the rest of the year(lol).
^Yeah I was just about to post that too. Again the only station in town that's still $2.99 is the Marathon right near my house, and again it's very very busy there.
60 cent raise in two days is bogus.

Bush is going to relase the strategic petrolieoum ( i don't know how to spell it) but I think the price being this high or higher ain't going down anytime soon cause Bush is only letting what the refinaries need.
It's not like he is going to release all 900 million barrels and bring the price to $1.20.
