What should SFGAM do about CAD???

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Bob O on July 16th, 2005, 1:19 pm
I will start by applauding SFGAM with coming up with the Coasters After Dark concept last year. It was a good idea and it was nice to see the season passholders get something extra.
But since this year and and last year CAD has been soo busy as it make alot of people not enjoy it, should SFGAM changeit, or what could they do do make it more enjoyable for the guests??
Should they maybe do it some mornings instead so crowds are smaller??
Should they do what PKI did(dont know about this year)where on tuesdays passholders car ride two times in a row??
Does anyone have any idea's how CAD can be changed so the liines arent worse at night than during the day???

I actually like the idea of having it before opening. They could have the day open early to season pass holders, and close late to season pass holders. Season Pass Day!

I also like the idea of opening early for passholders. Disney does a similar program for guests that stay on-site, and it works out well and isn't too crowded. (They also have a wristband program at night and the park is swamped.) Maybe make it every Tuesday and have just one area with all the rides open at a time. That way families can ride somthing besides Demon and Whizzer.

SFNE opened only one section for season pass holders a few years ago (I'm not sure if they still do). It wasn't very crowded. I don't know if it would be more crowded if they had the entire park open. I like rct2wizard360's idea of having a day where they open early and close late for pass holders.

I have taken advantage of the Walt Disney World "E-Ride Nights" before and it worked VERY well. They offer this program to those persons staying on-property (i.e. in a Disney Resort) The first 3,000 persons who show their Resort ID get a wristband. When the park closes only those with wristbands were allowed to ride. It was an extra perk for those staying on property. It worked very well.

I think that maybe a program like this would work at Great America. Limit the amount of pass holders that can participate.

Wrist Bands That will Be Passed out From 5pm-7pm. LIMIT Quantities, Have a que line for people to wait in for wrist bands, If you dont get a wrist band, you CANNOt partispate in CAD.

I dont know how well that would work. but its worth a try.

That would just tick people off. "We have season passes, why do they get one and we don't?"

First, you cannot deny people the right to participate in an event, so the only thing that SFGAm can do is to open more rides along with the coasters, like Revy, GD, KC, and other popular flat rides.

They should add more rides, or have more of the events.

Were in the law says they cannot DENY people what they want. Make CAD a season pass First Come First Serve thing. so what if people are pissed. YOU CANNOT always get what you want.

You dont see people getting IRATE when they Deny you access to hurricane harbor due to CAPACITY, they do it to make it more ENJOYABLE, if i was incharge of CAD i would do anything to make it a premium event.

Yeah, I did that too. I loved the morning sessions though more. It was always empty and there were no lines for anything at all.

They had discontinued the early entry that particular time. That was right after 9-11

I am glad they offer BOTH now.

Sure you can. ALl you need to do is make sure that it is clearly outlined when one buys a pass. It is not illegal in any way. Like I outlined above, Disney does the SAME thing. They offer this to their Resort Guests ONLY, and if you aren't early enough and get a wristband you are screwed.

Simple as that.

Well, if it is clearly marked that you may not be able to participate, then yes they can do tha. The only thing is that they dont, so that is why they cannot deny people to participate.

I got to Disney MGM at 10PM (Normal closing time) for the extra 3 hours it was open to people who stayed on the resort. I got somewhere between 15 and 20 rides on ToT, atleast 10 rides on RRC and a ride on Star Tours, we skipped the Great Movie ride because it was the only thing with a 10 minute line and we were coming back the next day. It was the best part of my 5 day trip.

A good thing to do for CAD would be to open the flats. That way, the lines would even out better. I understand that staffing issues forced SFGAm only to open the coasters, but maybe they shouldstart hiring already.

They should do nothing, since the whole point is having it is to increase season pass sales, and it is working. They don't care how crowded the park is during CAD.

^ I agree that the reasoning for CAD is to increase sales (ofcourse) and they likely do not care how crowded it is (More people, more Money) but the problem with CAD is, atleast from the few CAD events I have gone to, is that many people actually show up around 8pm to attend it, So I agree a morning session and a method of limiting the amount of people in CAD would be great, make people who wish to attend CAD show up before 2pm or so.

I do not plan to attend another CAD if it stays the way it is, During the past 2 years, the longest waits I have had for coasters has been during the CAD events, hence I see no reason to attend :?

^^ I was waiting for somebody to take the other side too, since that is who I agree with. They aren't in this game to ensure short lines for people.

Like I always say when a thread starts bashing CAD: More people, more money, more rides :D

Just enjoy the day no matter how busy. Thats what I do.

While CAD's purpose may be to increase season pass sales, i would like to know how many people, if any, bought there season pass due to CAD.
The water park spurred a increase of season pass sales and not CAD, which if anything is turning off season passholders and not gaining them any sales by postive word of mouth .
I would perfer SF increase the prices of season pass's so the park is less of a babysitter for teenagers or have a premium season pass with more benefits like CAD.

Yeah, I got in 8 rides on Tower of Terror in about an hour (they were sending empty elevators). At the same time, Rock 'n Rollercoaster had a 40 minute wait.

Anyways, the wristbands were for Epcot, although it was probably crowded because the fireworks were going on. :) Although, it is less crowded during the morning ERT than evening ERT (at least while I was there).

The reason why they have CAD is to get season pass holders to come to the park when they would have not gone, but because of CAD they show up.

My Idea/Theory.....

Regular Season Pass: $89 (or current price)
1. Unlimited Visits to Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor
2. Coupon Book

Premium Season Pass: $135 (Or what sounds resinable)
1. Unlimited Visits to Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor
2. 1 Hour Access To Hurricane Harbor from 10am-11am
3. Coupon Book
4. Coasters After Dark

I think its REASONABLE...

Now, here is the part where i have to tell everyone on the forums NOT TO POST STUPID RESPONCES LIKE: Not gonna happen (I know that because its just an IDEA), Stupid (well i have a right to my opinion and idea) and so on

Just don't double-click the Submit button.
