I'm in Houston this week for a convention and I made a trip to Six Flags on Monday (it's good to have friends in different places). Anyway, my friend and I made it to the park at around 1pm. The first ride that we conquered was Dungeon Drop (similar to Giant Drop) except the theming is more medieval. The coolest part of this ride is when you're at the top and the song "Ring Around The Roses" plays and the ride drops when the phrase "We All Fall Down" is said.
The next ride we rode was Serial Thriller (a SLC ride). That ride was pretty intense. Then we went on Thunder River, got wet a bit and then rode the Mayan Mindbender (an indoor coaster that is in complete darkness). After that we went on the Viper. This version of the Viper is a single looping coaster with lots of turns, plenty of air time and head choppers. We rode this ride twice (once in the front and the other in the back). After the Viper, I really wanted to get soaked so we went on the Tidal Wave (similar to Splash Waterfalls). After that ride, we went on Batman: The Escape. Talk about a rough ride, this Stand Up coaster is the worst coaster I have ever ridden. My head is still hurting from all the bumps and bruises that ride gave.
Around 4:30pm, we left the park because my friend needed to take care of some personal business. We returned to the park at around 6pm without having to pay for parking since we still had the parking ticket they gave us at the entrance (parking was only $8.00). We immediately went on the Texas Cyclone (a wooden coaster similar to Viper at GAm). That ride is very fast and gives plenty of airtime and head choppers. If you ever get a chance to ride the Texas Cyclone, definitely ride it in the back. My friend got hungry so we got something to eat. Then we went on Greezed Lightin (a shuttle looper). We rode that ride twice, first time in the back and the second time in the front. Then we rode the Ultra Twister. I don't know how to explain this ride, but I know that this coaster was pretty cool . This ride had a lot of spiral upside down turns and was very fast. Finally, we rode the XLR8 (accelerate). This is a suspended coaster where your body sits in a hanging cart where half of the carts face forward and the other half faces backwards. This ride was ok.
We left the park at around 7:45pm. Overall, the park itself was great. The crowds were non-existent, all of the rides were walk-on and the service was great. We did have to deal with some unrully children who thougt that it was pretty funny to spit water mist in the air and land on others. My friend basically cursed them out and I had my belt ready to beat some a**. Everyone who was there ventured to the waterpark (Waterworld, which is inside the park and free with admission). Out of a scale of 1-10, I'll give Six Flags Astroworld a 7.
