Yes, it was a first. Oh, SFGAm was on the Travel Channel on a show called CHICAGO:THE WINDY CITY. It showed all the rides and the SFGAm segment lasted about 10 minutes, maybe it will come on again. It talked most about Vertical Velocity and Raging Bull.

This really comes as no surprise. I think this is just more to come of ACE's recognition of B&M's achievements that have revolutionized steel roller coasters. We should just be happy we got the first B:TR.

I'm happy to hear this too. If we wouldn't have gotten the first BTR, then some other park would have gotten it. I might try to become an ACE member and go just to see this.

Eric, you probably don't need to be in ACE to see the ceremony.(Unless the hold it before or after park hours.)

Also, it's actually funny that this was announced because I was recently thinking that ACE might honor Batman because of Con.

Yea, the Con costs like $250 or something like that for both SFGAm and Mt. Olympus. I might still go, but I dont konw, that is a lot of money.

the money won't be that hard for me to get, but I have summer school that week so I might miss some of the morning ERT times.

I saw the Travel Channel Chicago thing too. It did talk mostly about V2 and Raging Bull. I also showed a lot of videos of Deja Vu but they were pretty awsome shots.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

i am suprised they let ACE members in the park. Most theme parks dont allow them in any more. Cause a lot of them are big time line jumpers, and 5 inch lap bar riders. they cause a lot of trouble for the parks.

No, some parks just don't want to host ACE events anymore. (Holiday World)

Acer's aren't a problem if the park enforces the rules. For example, last year when I went to Mt. Olympus, I rode Zues with maybe two clicks (or 6 or so inches) the ride operators just walked by to make sure we had them on. But at SFGAM if I try to pull that they push it in as far as it will go.

I think this is more so a sign of ACE's recognition of 1 coaster at every park where they have a major ERT event scheduled. :P Batman is coincidentally a good candidate.

The ACE Coaster Landmark is relatively new. The first was given to Leap the Dips in 2002. No, Whizzer has not received the award. It is intended for historic coasters that don't meet ACE's strict wooden/high lap-bar/seat divider-less standards for "Coaster Classics." I much prefer seat dividers, but I wouldn't be on the receiving end of any gravy buffet jokes.

ACE as a group is not banned from any park, there are certain individuals that are banned from certain parks, but as a whole ACE members are not banned from anywhere. Insurance companies are reluctant to provide coverage during ACE events at certain parks after recent events, effectively stopping events from happening at several parks though.

Yeah, and don't you think it has become sad when the insurance companies take notice of this.

The Holiday World incident really turned alot of heads in the industry.

First off is you are refering to the incident at Holiday World during SRM, It was not a ACE event. Stark Raven Mad was a park sponsered event for all card carrying coaster club members.

Shockwave8802 Have you ever been to a ACE event? Have ever looked at ACE's event page to see ALL the different parks that do allow events to take place there? As for ACEr's line jumping and causing trouble for parks, I personally have never seen this fist hand at the many events I have attended. Sure you have your bad apples in every group that like to stir up trouble ( I could name quite a few around this site), and because of those few from all clubs, parks are starting to have to pass the buck so to speak.

It is my opionion that since 2002 the parks insurance has skyrocketed to hold these event for the enthusiast clubs. So that is why in the last few years the price of these events are getting more and more.

If parks didn't allow us in anymore they wouldn't hold events for us, club or park sponsered.
Waiting to fill this space with something stupid to say!
