ShockWave may be Toast???

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

It wasn't his fault, it was corporate's fault. They wouldn't let him add anything into the park to have people comming back. In fact SFWOA did better than GL is now.

I really hope so. I would really hate it if our park became dirty, run down, and have the dreaded one train op that Six Flags is so famous for.

Mainly Magic Mountain is known for dreaded one train op, preety much no other SF park is. Six Flags is known for their bad maintence at most parks. If only Six Flags would learn to make SFGAm the standard for all of their parks.

I hope maitence stays the same then. Could a GM have enough power to turn us into another Magic Mountain or SFWoA?

OK kids. Lets put some rumors to rest.

The former SFWOA GM is not the new SFGAm General Manager.

Shockwave is being melted for scrap value. Steel is very expensive at the moment, so this is a good move. If you dont belive it, ride the Iron Wolf. You will see a large pile of 3 foot peices of SW as you crest the lift hill.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

They said that Whizzer was being taken down, not scrapped. And earlier in the topic somebody did say that the former manager of SFWOA was taking over, but nobody confirmed that.[/u]

So has anyone been to the park lately to see if Shockwave is mysterious disappearing. Are Track pieces being shipped out of the park. Is the hill getting grassy once again? :?

From what I have heard, Shockwave is getting prepared to be melted down. The track pieces are being taken apart for the process. Sorry, the reality is now hitting. At least it wasn't the last of its kind or anything like that.

You know what I'm posotive sure that it will be melted. But why the couldn't rebuild in other SF park? By the way how many people a year SF needs to be attendant to build something new (for. examlpe:RC) for next year??

I think the reason why they didn't build it in any of their SF parks are...Any park that would want it, didn't have the room (SFEG,SFKK). Also its more than 10 years old and since it didn't do so well at GAm, most parks wouldn't be very excited to take it.

/\ It has also been sitting on that hill for almost 5 years now, the pieces are being messed up just sitting there. They really could not put it back up, if they wanted to.

I saw the heap of cut up pieces today, it's definately being scrapped.

Shockwave was to big of a liability to be rebuilt. There are reasons Shockwave was removed in the first place instead of whizzer, if SW didnt have "problems" it'd still be standing.

Also, there have been coasters have sat around disassembled for far longer (5-10+ years) and been successfully reassembled.

Also it is true, the former SFWOA GM that was demoted to merchandise at SFGAm is being re-promoted to GM of our park, but I cant think of his name right now. Tim Black left SFGAm for reasons unknown, I hear he is now with Great Bear/Wolf lodge(probably corperate, not at any specific hotel), not sure what he does though.

(sorry, not all that coheasive after a fairly disappointing visit to the park today) :)

Then I believe it indeed was corporate issues then. He didn't have a stable job in a chain that doesn't show promise right now. The Great Wolf/Bear Lodges show growth and promise.

:( I visited the park on Sunday, October 10, and it seemed to me that there were fewer parts of ShockWave still visible. I heard on Monday that indeed it is true. Nobody wants it, so it is being sold for scrap. I heard this from a very reliable source. So it is now definitely "Adios" to our old friend.

No sources are needed anymore. The ride is obviously going bye-bye. And it was very sad to see them working on some pieces today.
