Okay, this has probably been discussed before but i couldn't find anything. Or i could just be blind, but...
Okay, i do go to the park a lot, but not as much as some of you. And i've never been there on a sunday. So i thought i'd try it. I've gotten mixed feelings about attendance. Do ya'll think it will be crowded or not. I know that's the last "Read To Succeed" Day, so Demon and Whizzer will probably be crowded all day. But what do you think about the rest of the park? Are shows crowded on Sundays? And what do you think I should hit first? I'm planning on being there for Park open, when should i get there? I've never actually been there for park open, i usually come at noon. Thanks!
There is still a long line to get into the park at noon on weekends and it would be better to get there at park opening if possible because it is possible for the park to turn away guests if it gets too crowded...happended to me once already! generally long lines, and the shows arent too crowded...if you have a season pass, use it to get in earlier for better seats...good luck on Sunday if ya go!

Yeah, i'm going. I do plan on getting there at park open. How Early do they let you in the park? And do you think the bigger coasters will be crowded? Isn't "read to succeed" only younger kids? Thanks!
I think read to suceed goes through 6th grade. At least that's when my school stopped doing it. There's still a lot of read to suceed people that do go on the big coasters. I would highly recommend to go another day. If you do go, it will be VERY crowded. It will be very important to get a lot of rides in the morning. Once it fills up you won't be able to get anything done.
It is probably going to be horrid like everyday this week, every ride having full queue and every ride running with all of its trains with KC most likely closed

I've gone quite a few Sunday's this year. If you get there at opening you'll be able to get some rides on the major coasters before it gets too crowded. Sunday takes a little longer to get crowded but by noon it's been about as bad as many Saturday's.
Okay, unforunatly the Sunday idea was scrapped becuase something came up. So what about Monday? what do you guys think that will be like tomorrow. I've never been on a monday either.

As a follow-up to all this....Sunday was a nightmare. The park was estimating about 40,000 people would come through the gates. Saturday was something around 36,000 and that was bad enough.
I don't buy Fastlane passes too often but Sunday I did.
Even the managers were chipping in to help out with things on Sunday. I saw both Larry Wine and John Curty picking up trash, moving benches, etc. during the day. That kind of attitude is one of the things that does nothing but help the place and it's good for employee morale too.
I went on the last day of read to succede once. How bad was it. How many people usually go on an average day? 15,000 or something. I usually can tell how crowded the park is by looking at bull. How long do you think bull's line was?

To Wrap up this topic, i just got back from a wonderful Monday at Great America. And Either the park was not crowded or My "Party" had really great timing. Most of the rides were walk ons or 5-10 minute wait. Bull was using no rollbacks or Switchbacks the back-and-forth thingy's (What are those called?). and started at the stairway, we walked on to batman row 1. and all the flats had walk-on waits.
Look for my report coming soon with some great pics of the day.
I also got back from the park on Monday and it was awesomw. I got on 62 rides in total, coasters and flats. Everything was open and almost everything had waits of less than 6 minutes. Despite getting stuck on Demon for 30 minutes on first dispatch because Vu was closed, I enjoyed my day. By the way I did get 2 one time use exit passes and another free soft drink (that makes 6 free soft drinks and three one time use exit passes this season)

I have seen these two doing work like this almost every time I come to the park, crowded or not. I have seen John Curty putting out torches during Fright Fest numerous times.
