Will SFGAm Continue To Buy Huss and Vekoma Rides?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on July 18th, 2004, 9:46 am
After the problems with KC (Huss) and D Vu (Vekoma), do you think that SFGAm will continue to support these companies?

If you believe they will, I would like to know what's another Huss ride that you think would be a good addition to the park. I ask this because some of the newer flats are Huss (Condor, KC, and Revolution).

Since quite a bit of the new flats are also Zamperla (Trailblazer, Jester's Wild Ride, Big Easy Balloons, River Rocker, and I'm not sure but I think Chubasco), I ask the same thing. What would be another good Zamperla ride?

Well considering Vekoma couldn't even get Déjà to run right I think they may want to look closely at any project from them...
As for King Chaos it was sitting in pieces rusting for a long time and they baught it at an auction, I never would have guessed it would have problems , also Whoooossss made a lot of the classic rides at GAm.

King Chaos was not brand new. SFGam got a really good deal for it. They knew that since it is not brand new and had been sitting for awhile, it could have problems. It was not 100% Huss's fault. Vekoma on the otherhand, well lets just say we will not be seeing any Vekoma engineers anytime soon.

What are some other Huss and Zamperla rides that would be for the park in the future because they like those two companies?

They buy what they think is intresting not because they worked with the company more. That may affect their decesion in who they buy from.

It sure does help. It just seems like they stick with some companies like B&M, and others such as those. Anyway, what would be another ride that would be good out of those two.

Don't be suprised if we do get many Vekoma rides in the future. Why?

If what you said actually happened, there wouldn't be any Intamin rides around right now....

Remember a little thing called S:TE? Or ever how V², The Former S:UE and SFMW's V² are having problems, or even how TTD is?

When you buy a prototype, you know what your getting yourself into. There is no guarantee that the ride will ever work.

Well there aren't that many companies to choose from. I think Huss rides are very reliable and do a lot of good for parks. The company I would be asking about would be Intamin. . .

If king Chaos had no problem why was is closed. It was open on Saturday. But I know for a fact they should not buy Vekom rides and any other Six Flags theme park and if they do they have not learned their lesson. Although their rides are very fun though. But they should stay with they ones they had before.

Yeah, it was closed because it broke. Read.

Now I don't have the best memory but as far as I can remember it used to be alot faster. My friend and I also got on King Chaos, I think I would have liked that more if I wasn't sunburned, but it also stopped abrubtly and they made us get off. I was disappointed to see Vu not running. Other then that it wasn't too bad for a really short trip.

I think SFGAm/SF in General will continue buying from both Huss and Vekoma, seeing as Huss makes, hands down, the highest quality flat rides on earth, and Vekoma makes good Ferris Wheels and we are currently wheel-less, also Vekoma tends to put out some innovative products, even if they dont always work right.

I think Dave said this in one of those "Deja Vu will be taken down because it doesn't work" topics.

"People can say that Deja Vu is bad because it "never works," which now it does. Even if the line is long they can complain about it during the queue but after they get off the ride they are amazed and thats all they can talk about for awhile."

Deja had/has its probles, but I can live with them for a good ride.

Vu's hardly worth any of the problems and while it's too popular to should be out by now (and probably would be that if the major rehab of it last season didn't work well).
The bad thing is that it's so popular that they'll probably keep it running until it topples over or tears itself apart .

Also look what happenned to SFMM. They have X, S:TE, Déjà. These are HUGE maintenece consumers and because of these rides constant need of tons of maintenence funds look what happenned to the maintenence of the other rides (lack of upkeep due to the maintenence budgets being wasted on X, S:TE, and Déjà) and they have hardly adequate maintenence funds to run the park well with those rides in the park, whats sad is theres nothing SFMM management can do but they're best to get everything running.

You can have your opinion, but rides on X and Deja (Can't say S:TE because I havn't ridden it.) are worth all the maintenace they go through. When those types of rides are perfected they could dominate the thrill world.

When those rides are perfected? I don't know about X but I can confidently say Déjà will never, once again NEVER run flawlessley like people seem to think it does, you know, when it goes a week with only 5-10 downtimes a day .
As I said, these rides retarted problems affect the rest of the rides maintenence (doesn't seem real bad, but it's very, VERY visible at MM with all the crap they have to put up with).
I put money that if GAm got X, S:TE, and a few of the other bigger rides at SFMM (Sky Tower example) they'd suck just like MM.
