Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Last Night, there was a near accident on Batman, but because of the quick thinking of the ride-ops this was only a near miss and not a tragedy.

Around 7:30 my cousin and I sat in row 8 on the ride. I sat on the far left side and watched as the ride-op removed a girl about 8 or 9 years old from the OTSRs, the girl was upset because she was just a little too short to ride the ride. The Ride-op then told the young girl that she had to sit the ride out and the young girl began to cry.

The girl then when through the turn-style as the Ride-op went to check OTSRs.

The train was then sent for its dispatch and started up, amazingly, the distrought girl went under the turn-style and then attempted to board the moving train. The Ride-ops immedately stopped the ride and the girl was then escorted out of the station.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people can be. The ops deserve credit for doing their jobs and for paying attention. Had that girl somehow managed to get onto the train unnoticed, who knows where she would've ended up. With how strong the forces are on that ride, and with such a young girl, we most certainly would've been talking about a death.

And if that wound have happened i would have been first to say that it was 100% the girls fault.

I agree that it would have been 100% the girl's fault. That would be like hopping the fence and waitng for Eagle by the helix or climbing a tower to catch a ride on Vu. Both are very bad ideas.

I was working there the night it happened. I work on the batman ride (unit 120) and had just come back from a 15 minute break. As i came up, i saw the floor (which was lowered) go back up. I go to the remote operator asking what happened. they said that some girl (the same one, i saw her crying) ran out onto the platform. After she was out of harms way (back in the exit), they sent out the train. This is NOT an uncommon thing to happen. It happens quite often (once every 2-3 days). I woould like to thank you guys for complementing my crew (even though i wasnt there, lol).

I wonder how tall the girl was i mean if she was 53' that probably wouldn't hurt her to go on but I mean if she was less thatn 50' then she probably not want to go on.Stillhowstupidercanyouget

You say that this girl is dumb and stupid, but you have to realize that she is 8 or 9, or even younger. She is small enough that she could go under the turnstyle. It's not like she was 15 or 16 years old.

I agree with you completely, you can't blame someone who's that young...sure it's her fault, but it's not like she knew what she was getting into

Yes I agree.. it's her parents fault. Where in the heck were they?
Although I do take my 9 year old nephew all the time and have never had a problem. He knows better then to do something stupid like that.

This will make me sound dumb, but what's the turnstyle? And even still, a girl that is in second or third grade should be able to tell the difference between safe and dangerous in a high mecanical area.

I was about to say that. And even if she was 20, you don't have to call her stupid. She just didn't understand the safty precautions. There is a problem with how some members talk about others on these boards.

They just started to read a year or two ago. Do they know much about a highly mechanical area?

Can't they figure out why they have the yellow safety line or the automatic closing gates?

Nope. They see something moving, so they want to run to it.
