Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hes in a better place now
Ilovthevu' wrote:Having four mecahnics rolling it shouldn't be that bad. You would be surprised what things can be lifted or moved when more that one person does a job. My favorite ride has arms (which look like they weigh a ton), but yet they move it from carnival to carnival each week.

Im sorry to break it to ya, but Six Flags has a little higher Standard of safety thatn a carnival.

If I didn't love this ride so much I'd say that GA should just yank it out and ram the supports right up Vekoma's .....! Oh well, that's what happens when you put in a prototype. If you want new, exciting technology, you have to be patient enough to put up with this kind of thing.

You have to realize it takes time until all the bugs are out of it. 50 years isn't that long.

AWESOME ride, I can deal with the downtime. Just leave it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like it could be a couple weeks. Also, Timmy, Papas isn't in 'that' special place is he? Because you make it sound unclear.

Just message Timmy about Papas and you'll find out, but, no, he isn't in "that" special place. I thought the same thing. Anyhow, it's sure too bad that he's not around now, though, because I'm sure he took pics of this.

I'm sorry this had to happen to you guys. Deja Vu knows what I'm coming. 2 years ago - the same thing happened, but I was there. It looks like DV missed me by 1 train! The last train out on the 5th was a really good ride by the way! ;)

Enough about papas, geez.

I talked to some people Who's Home parks are SFMM and SFOG And They both basically told me thier Vu' was back up in no less than 3 weeks.

Of course Sfmm probably just tossed some duct tape on the train and were happy with that

To get the train out, it'd be near impossible for any number of people to roll it by hand, the train weighs in excess of 6 tons. They have 2 options, either use a winch(one on each end of the train) and move it a few feet at a time and when its far enough take off the winch and let it roll to the station, or get the crane out and disassemble the whole thing and reassemble it in the station. Either way I'd expect it to be down for a few days.

If it happened at 8am like i think I read further up, I think it was probably just the first test of the day and the grease was cold and bearings stiff, and it just couldnt make it, I doubt anything really major happened to cause that.

Back up in no less than 3 weeks or back up in less than 3 weeks? No less than 3 weeks would mean more than 3 weeks, which is TOO long for me.

Did anyone go yesterday? I'm just wondering whether or not they've gotten the train out of that position and/or if any signs of life were taking place around the ride. I'm assuming, of course, that it is not up and running, but it would be nice to find out whether or not the problem is being fixed or looked into.

When I went today, Vu was closed at the beginning, but they opened around 11:30. I saw one train go so I headed over. It must not have been the first train because the queue was full. Anyway, when I was walking into SWT, I heard a noise. So I turned around and the train was barely making it through the cobra roll, and it almost didn't make it through the loop. I bet the people in the middle of train were upside down for a few seconds. After the loop, it didn't have enough momentum to catch the lift so it was stopped by the brakes on the loop.

That's strange, it barely making through the loop and the cobra roll the first time. The first tower must have let it go too early or wind problems, because when I see it brake, it has more than enough momentum to go through the loop and cobra roll. The second tower just doesn't catch it.
