Great America Land Area

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

In the past few years V2 now the Mardi Gras section have been added. Rides placed in places nobody would believe. There is tons of room in the park. Plenty of room for expansion. I ride on Sky Trek Tower Proves that.

They put V2 there because they could, it's squeezed right between the midway and the flumes, in my opinion perfect for a ride of that magnitude.
As far as Mardi Gras, something needed to be done with that area.

great america does have tons of expansion space. Maybe not enought for another Raging Bull Scale Coasters but...
I think the park should get a parking garage, then they would have even more room for expansion. A lot of the normal lot would need to remain anyway, but it would help.

But You're Right Ron/Wolf. GAm does have plenty of Expansion space already, even if they do need to shuffle things about every once in a while (I.E. A-Meri-Go-Round and Whirligig)

I agree with Binks Drake. How many more SUF's or RB's could you put in the park? (Not too many.) Yeah, you could be a lot of V2's, D Vu's and RC's (smaller roller coasters), but a bigger coaster is also needed.

And about expanding to making other areas, every part of the park is not completely full yet. Here and there you can put some rides. For instance, next to Chubasco (tea cups), big gap.
Across from the Orbit, a "garden" shaped like a star. In other words, trying to fill up the space. Also, a completely new area costs a lot of dough.
On top of that, you have Shockwave taken up space in the back.

Great America is fine how it is, you cant put a flat in every open area there is other wise the park would be too crowded. Great America is as good or better then any park around.

Those big gaps probably couldn't even hold a flat ride. And in my opinion the park will never expand over by where Shockwave sits now because of the theatre and where that sits. Not to mention thats a good portion of the employee parking lot over there.

The only big space we have in my opinion is behind the Southwest Ampitheatre.

Yea, they do have a lot of room, but do you really want to lose the theming and all because of an expansion for another ride like Spacely's or something like it, I'd rather have the theming, Planea, on the other hand, would love to have another Spacely's in the park

I'm just saying that's why they are not expanding it more such as a brand new area.

Parking garage would be a good idea, but they couldn't put that for some time because where you put it? It wouldn't help until you move the whole park entrance up quite a bit. The way the park is now, it wouldn't make sense.

My ideas on a parking structure:

Too expensive
Getting out of the park is already hard enough...
Where?
We would still need an overflow lot
Not cost effective
Too expensive

A parking structure would cost more than Raging Bull.

/\ There used to be a ride in that Garden in Hometown Square across from Orbit. Probably not something you'd ride though.

Possibly before they made Hometown Park (not sure), but thats not what was there before they put the garden there.

Actually they braught parts of the ride back for Fright Fest last year (see those airplanes crashed into the ground by the gazebo? :) ).

A parking Garage would be nothing but a costly hassle.

They had three kiddie rides at one time before they put the two SFGAm money makers. The airplanes, beetles, and something like the flinstone ride in Cartoon Network.

As someone who is familiar with construction costs I can tell you parking ramps cost a minimum of $20,000 per space to build now. If you go over four levels high that cost will double. Not a practical solution either without better access and egress from the park.

I think they would want a parking garage to expand the park into the lot, but I am not too sure.

I love Spacley's. If they got the people at Great America to ride Sky Trek as much as I do, you can see that they can fit at least 4 Raging BUll size Coasters.

I'm not saying they couldn't, Planea. But give us some examples of where? They could also add a lot of flats, if they wanted to. Like in that garden. There is also dead space between River Rocker and County Fair. I always thought they could put a chaos or something near the amphitheatre. They could also put a lot of flats in Orleans. They have lots of room. So yes, we do have a lot of space. there are lots of ways GAm could make it easier on themselves by "Shuffling" things around.

Extra: OHH! Something just occured to me! I wonder where they will put the A-Meri-Go-Round. What spaces are big enough? (Please don't lock, I don't mean to start any rumors. I'm just wondering since we are talking about expansion space).

Not the exact plot of RB. But on the same scale. You just gotta be creative.
