Mardis Gras

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Now that the Mardis gras section of the park is complete (well, we all know about King Chaos) What do you think of it?. Is it more than you expected, is it worse than you expected.

I personally think its a great addition that surpassed my greatest expectations. Great addition to the park, and made it a much more family like atmosphere.

I think it is an great addition to the park. They lived up to what I expected they would do with it, but was really hoping for a little bit more new orleans feel too it. ore fasades like the one Ragin Cajin. That would have been a nice touch to the buildings there. But thats just me being pickyLOL. Im happy with what we got. does anyone here think they will start redoing other sections over next couple years? I think they might.

Although it's not as well themed as Southwest Territory, I still think it's awesome and it makes a great addition to the park.

I think it's great! I love the music! The other day they were playing a jazz version of "In the Summertime"

Considering this area has been a "dead spot" for years, this was a very welcome addition.

You can see the difference in the amount of people hanging out in the new area as compared to previous years where basically the area between the railroad bridge and Yankee Harbor bridge was a walk-through.

With the new Mardi Gras, SFGAm has no dead spots in the park.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Yeah, what Chitown said, it makes the park pretty much even in terms of things to do. People could argue that Yukon Territory is kind of a dead spot but it has Logger's Run and is primarily for the kids and has great themeing as well as limited space so I think that it isn't a dead spot. Jester's Wild Ride isn't even that bad of ride . I haven't been on Big Easy Balloons yet but I'm sure its fun.

I think Chitown put it best, all that area used to have was Roaring Rapids and a few games...now it's awesome. Rajin` Cajun was all I expected and more, it's so out of control I completly loved it. Nice Job SFGAm.

Awesome addition I must say. it brings more people to the area and it does even out the traffic flow in the park.

From the pictures I've seen, it looks awesome! I can't wait until Saturday to see it in person.

I do think though, that the area of Carousel Plaza with Sky Trek Tower in it is kind of a dead spot, but that's just me
Finally Coaster Season!!

AWSOME addition to SFGAm. Although I haven't ridden Ragin' Cajun and the other Mardi Gras rides because of LONG lines.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

Ragin Cajun is a great addition (although it goes down a lot, it'll get there), Big Easy Balloons is a nice view over the midway, I think Jesters Mild Ride would belong better in Camp or Looney Toons Lodge but whatever works. King Chaos, havn't been on it obviosley but if it is as loud as it's been running i'd be very mad if I was Manny B.

Which would TOTTALY defeat the purpouse of putting in a new "kiddie" ride so that familys can move their way around the park instead of staying in one area all day. Ive heard many good reviews about JWR from many adults.

As i've said before I don't run the park and i'm sure they know what they're doing better than I do (or at least i'd hope so, lol). So as I said in my last post.....whatever works.

I think that County fair is sort of dead. THe Iron Wolf/American Eagle area is good. But without Sky Whirl and Haybaylor, there isn't any good flat. They need to stick in one good flat in that area.

Note: I realize that they don't NEED to put a flat there, it's just my opinion. I hope to not start argurments over the word need.

Um I think i consider Revolution a good flat, I mean it has decent lines for a flat, and I think it is quite fun.

^ I said minus the Eagle/Wolf Area. I mean like around farmers market and Deja VU. There's Spashwater falls and Raceway. But i think those are kind of hidden. You could walk right by the entrance to either and not know.

I don't see a whole lot of room to put a flat in...

It's been in the soundtrack since Mardi Gras was an annual weekend fest.

They need to get rid of that Kariokee thing.... The singing out of there is just plain bad! I feel so bad for the guy who has to stand there all day and listen to that.

They are also missing the beer. When I think of Mardis Gras I think of beer and ..... well you know :) Maby the Kariokee wouldn't be so bad if there was beer served there.

It really depends who is singing. I think they shouldn't play it live but instead keep some of the good ones and just play those. Like for instance when i was there i walked by that place 3 times, and two of the times i had to cover my ears, but the other time, some girl was singing Come Clean by Hilary Duff, and i could barely tell it wasn't her.

Yeah, some of the singers are actually entertaining.(Good and bad ones) Sometimes it's funny to make fun of the bad ones.

Usually I think the singers are halfways decent, most people know if they can sing or not.
