Strongest Brakes

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Which SFGAm roller coaster do you think has the strongest brakes? Just wondering.

I stuck between V2 and Raging Bull.

I think that V2 has the strongest brakes because I think V2 is going faster than RB at the end of the ride, I am not sure though

V2 dosen't have conventional brakes they are magnetic.

And If I had to pick one-S:UF because we hit an Estop and that really threw you around. But this question is all on opinion as there are tons of factors affecting how a rollercoaster stops.

Depends how heavy the train is and who is the manufacturer. I would actually say any B&M because their trains are bigger and the brakes do not grab a little sheet of steel on the bottom of the train, but they are wider and in my opinion can hold better because of that.

Well one time on Viper we were coming up to the brake run and it just stopped. It was probably going 20-30mph and stopped to 0 in about 1 sec. Then I was later informed that they accidentially shut the whole ride down.

If you're talking about trims then definately Eagle.

I'd have to say either Viper or Whizzer. On opening day, Whizzer's were the worst in the whole park. Extremely abrupt stopping.
As for trims, definately American Eagle.
Finally Coaster Season!!

I'm surprised no one has said Iron Wolf, considering it goes from like 40 to 0 in 2 seconds.

Hell yea. Viper's breaks are crazy if your in back because you stop allmost as soon as you exit the turn. I have to put my arms on the bar in front of me so I dont get whiplashed.

And v2s breaks arent that strong people. If your talking about the ones on the spike, the are magnets or lims. The ones on the return back to the station are real breaks though because you can see them drop down from the track after the train enters the last spiral.

NO OTHER BREAKS COMPARE TO THOSE ON SHOCKWAVE. It aint there anymore, but when it was, after you came out of the camicazee turn after the third loop, you got whiplashed to the right and got banged up real bad while going from 60 mph to 2 or 3.

Plus you could hear them from everywhere in the parking lot.

They must be Intamin's famous magnetic brakes then, since they drop from above. (They are also used on TTD and Giant Drop)

It also depends on how strong the park decides they should be because they can adjust the amount of force...

I like riding Raging Bull on an empty train, no trim on the camel back (even though the ride is slower, I guess).

I'd say most uncomfortable brake section would be Vipers block brakes.

The worst brakes period would probably be Xcelerator. My god does that thing stop.
