Are the new rides good?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

For all of us who couldn't go today, what are all the new rides like? I wish I lived closer(Chicago, not somewhere in Wisconsin). Then I could go more than 2 or 3 times a year. Yep, thats right. Thats it. Is King Choas as cool as it looks? I saw that thing on RCT.

I thought stargate was okay, especially because it was really cold out and we went on it several times for warmth. I really didn't like revolution, it was kind of boring and it made me really really sick for some reason.

Revolution is good. It's a little weak at first, but for the second half of the ride, it's more intense. It's a pretty good ride.

Stargate was ok. I'd never been on those types of rides, it was pretty interesting.

Since I have been on King's Island's Delirium - Revolution seemed weak, but for some strange reason even though it didn't swing back and forth at 70 miles an hour it sure spun pretty fast! After you stop and reverse spinning the ride kinda goes nuts for the remander of the ride. I rode it twice, it was good - probably because today there wasn't anyone there... I'm talking maybe waiting 10 min for Bull... I felt mild drops here and there but nothing big.

Stargate was a huge disappointment... I guess I can't pump myself up for simulator rides because in essence, they are all like Space Shuttle America, just with a different story - and all bumpy and not fluent.

Top speed in the Pictorium was pretty cool.

I thought the 10am opening to the park was cool, blasting the Vengaboys song "We Like To Party" out of Hellevator's massive speakers... I hope they do that daily, it sure got me pumped!

King Chaos looks great - is there just gonna be "Raging Bull style restraints" aka "shell shaped" restraints holding you in and nothing else? Either they just aren't complete in making the upper restraint or that's the way it's gonna be and it'll be insane when you flip all over the place. I am most anxious to ride that.

Big Easy Balloons was pretty much put together - How do we spin our balloon??

Ragin' Cajun is smaller than I thought.

V2 ran amazing today - should we thank the new supports?

I can't get over looking at Batman and saying, "what is that!?"

I had forgotten how much I missed the Chubasco.

All the new paint jobs were simply stunning.

Crazy Buffalo Salloon never opened and that made me insanely upset.

Deja Vu ran beautifully!

Closing out Batman for 15 min was great... Never getting out of your seat from 7:45 - 8:00pm was amazing...

All in all a great day... Just thought I'd put what I thought sorry if it got long!!! LOL...

Ltr.

I was a little dissapointed with Revolution, but ti was still fun, I was expecting more of a thrill. Stargate was a major suprise! Excellent! I really liked it, it has a nice story and its pretty long.

Has anyone taken pictures of anything yet?...

Both rides that were open were alot of fun. i loved Revolution paint job and entrance area. The theme in the line for stargate didnt change, except for the screens now show a stargate symbol

Ya same here on Revolution.

Stargate was aight, better than Space Shuttle America(last years sim ride) but not still not that good. I think making it 3D would have made it really good.

I posted pics in my TR thread.

I'm pretty sure the Mardi Gras section is supposed to open May 14th. I saw no one working on any of the rides except Big Easy Balloons.

I Saw people working on (Or around) rajun cajun. They could have just happened to have been there, but it looked like they were doing something. I also saw people working on Rajin Cajun. Jesters seems pretty complete, and it doesn't look like they've touched King chaos since the buyouts last weekend.

I liked revolution. For those people who are saying Revy is a different expeiriance each time. It depends on where you sit, i've noticed. And I also remember someone saying that the ride ops can change the program from the console (Or whatever). That could be wrong, but someone on these boards said it once. I don't remember who.

I thought stargate was a huge disapointment. I thought it was just lame. And i couldn't understand a single word anyone said (pre-show and Ride) except "Saqqara"(sp?). So i was really confued and expected it to be slightly less tame.

Oh...Yeah...Something that bugs me. In the Map/guide, It called it space shuttle america. I know they didn't have a huge amount of time to prepare for stargate but still. I mean, all the pre-shows were already ready, and same for the film. 'cause it's already playing in Europe or something. But they really did zip to the ride. Inside and outside, everything still says space shuttle america. They did zip to the lab. and all of the historical space thingies are still up on the inside line area. It bugged me. It doesn't cost a thousand dollars to take down some signs when you already have a constuction team working all day everyday at the park. and the Sign for Stargate is a dinky little banner.

Okay, i'm done being nitpicky.

Well, revolution will feel different depending on where you sit on the disc, I personally thought it was running a fairly lame program(same as SFGAdv), but I was told that they will tweak the program as the year goes on, still by any means a fun ride.

As already said none of the other new rides were open, though Jesters appeared to be ready to go (lights were installed on the ride, those are always the last thing to go on in the construction process), Big Easy BAlloons looked nearly reqady to go and was having some themeing added to it during the day, Top Spin is nowhere even close, the water tanks on each side of hte ride are still missing, and they have'nt yet put the OTSR's on yet (It should have the exact same OTSR's as Revolution then those lapbar looking objects come down over the OTSR as a secondary backup for the OTSR. And finally the mouse, to put it lightly has some ways to go, however the station is looking like it will look very nice once it's done (I figured it'd have the standard plexiglass enclosed station that most others have).

As for the rest of the park, all rides(that I noticed) were open all day exept for DV which opened around 3 or so, and before it opened it did miss the catch car at the end of the ride and freefall back into the station and hit the brakes going up into the cobra roll, it did that several times til it warmed up a bit, also Tripple Play was closed, it's still being re-assembled and it looks very nice.

I guess that's about it, a few new shade structures have gone up around the park, and alot of stuff has been re-painted, however part of Demon still needs to be painted (block brake to the corkscrew) I'd expect that to be done this week.

In all pretty nice day, weather wasnt that horrible (at least it was dry), and operations were going smoothly.
