So from the website i noticed a few things:

1. The 4th of July event has been renamed and is no longer sponsored by Coca-Cola
2. With the Exception of Grad Night, Boo Fest, and Fright Fest, all other events have removed the Six Flags Branding.
3. The Park's last day of operation this year is most likely November 2nd

Hopefully that Great American Nights event keeps the Classic "Great" text from the original Great America logo like the previous Great Summer Nights Logo
It hasn’t been sponsored by Coke for years now.

Maybe at some parks but I don’t think it was at ours because I remember specifically discussing how it wasn’t sponsored by Coke anymore. Because the whole celebration was scaled back from the “4th Fest” days

But I could be wrong…

Well my image comes from Great America's 2024 map so i'm saying it was[/quote]Just randomly have a map lying around. That’s believable. But it’s not worth the argument anyways.

It’s also possible that it was originally supposed to be sponsored by Coke and then changed when the event got closer..but again, not worth the argument. It’s not a big deal.

Yes that’s correct. Although I didn’t see the garbage cans with the big coke logos out this past year.
Happy to hear the nighttime parade is coming back. Riding in the bugs bunny parade as a kid in the 80s was always a huge memory of mine.

2 Great America updates:

1. Smoking is no longer allowed except for at the front gate (this goes for all other parks too)

2. Six Flags Great America has been iROC certified

I'm thrilled about the no smoking policy (which people will disobey anyway)

But the iROC I'm less thrilled about. All I've ever heard about it is that people hate it because it massively slows operations. I was already annoyed with the seat assigning. I wanna pick my damn seat. I always pick front of the train at Goliath because the rear causes me back pain from the sheer insanity of the negative G's.

We'll see how Great America handles it, they had good ops last year i'm sure they can compromise with iROC while still keeping those faster operations

AS for smoking, as long as it's strictly enforced people won't do it

I agree with Goku! I always want to pick my own seat! And I think a row grouper is a total waste of a resource. People will naturally fill in rows where needed. I don't really like someone holding my hand and walking me to a row like has happened at Whizzer!

I definitely prefer not having iROC, but implementing iROC shouldn't be the end of the world. Sure, dispatches are longer versus not having iROC, but it's not doubling dispatch times. We're talking 10 seconds or so, which sure that adds up over an hour or a day, but we shouldn't see anything crazy drastic. I am a little worried about the "transition period", but once they are settled in everything will be fine.

Dispatch times will still be dictated in most part by the specific crews. Look at Kings Island or Cedar Point, they can churn out trains with iROC. Steel Vengeance dispatches 2 or 3 times with IROC for every 1 time Goliath dispatches without iROC. Superman's crew last year was fantastic compared to prior years. Same ride, same policies, but it just came down to who was working there and how dedicated and motivated they were.

Personally I am a huge fan of groupers. in my opinion, people are not really good at doing this on their own. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing Bull consistently cycle with 6 rows only having 2 or 3 people in them. Groupers also do a good job at keeping stations organized. Viper with a full station is one of the worst experiences in the park. From my experience at Legacy CF parks, groupers are willing to accommodate row requests 95% of the time. I have had some experiences when they deny my requests when I am a solo rider and they use me to fill an empty seat at KBF and CanWon but otherwise it hardly ever an issue and usually goes over smoothly. Groupers at SFGAm have a little catching up to do in this regard (Maxx is good, but the rest), but it has not really a standard position across the park. I could see improvement if it becomes more prominent. Seems like an easy fix with training. But I don't think groupers are an iROC policy. I've been to Legacy CF parks where there have been no groupers on some big coasters (Wild Thing, Mamba, Patriot, I305/Project 305/Pantherian).

You’d be in shock to find out how many parks use iRoc that aren’t notorious for bad ops.

For those who may not know, it’s a third party auditing company that has a ride training template parks use at all their rides. They do audits twice a year and evaluate 12 rides at random for a score.

In essence, iroc is like “make sure you check all the restraints each time you dispatch” and leaves how you do that up to the parks and then some parks (CF) do it a dumb way. Cedar fair being a corporate greedy husk makes their ride policies slow as hell on purpose so their idiot insurers think it’s somehow safer and give them good rates and also to encourage fast lane sales

Dark Knight is really going to suffer with Iroc, since they'll now have to send only one train through the ride course and not allow the trains move in the station for better operations since they can load multiple trains at a time. I would feel so bad for the ride ops because if the line after the pre-show is backup there's gonna be issues.

keep an eye on Dark Knight's operations

Nothing concrete yet but at the Village meeting last month they said they planed on implementing it so I assume once it gets closer to opening date we will see an official announcement

Great point! I could see this slowing down Dark Knight sadly.

Y'know the area where you get your Tickets and Guest Relations after you get scanned? That's what i consider "front gate", they may push it out even before you have to be scanned and get bag checked, but as far as i know, once you show your tickets and you're in Carousel Plaza, there's no smoking.
