It's just so fun & I appreciate the length. Then I ride Emperor 5 times in a row cause no one is ever back there. lol so let's get this dive coaster & then an Intamin straddle coaster haha.

Yeah no, i'm still fully against shoving a bunch of coasters into the park to satisfy coaster enthusiasts. We can add other things y'know? or improve the park in other ways besides adding another coaster. The biggest thing the park needs rn is to renovate its kiddie areas.
Agreed here, there's not a lot that my youngest can ride. They used to have that area by Batman that the go-karts are currently in that was a great kids area. With Little Dipper now there it would be a perfect centralized location if they also made a bridge to connect to the old Buccaneer Battle area. The current Kidzopolis and Camp Cartoon are pitiful. Paying for a pass for a kid that can barely do anything sucks, also sucks for him as he'd like to go on rides.
It's be nice if they could also invest more in park operations, the garbage cans are always full and really stink. It's something my wife comments on every time we're there, comparing to Disney and Universal.

Same!
I’m very impatient right now. Just spent another hour typing things in… [emoji2357]

This was why I was hoping for a family launch coaster. Would have been a great addition and they are surprisingly fun. But…. At least we are getting something significant.
LOL I've done it myself as well. It's getting so close I'm goin nuts.
As for the kids areas, I've said it a 100 times before & agree they need work. Badly. SFMM has an incredible kids area with four coasters & rides for families. If we could even do half of that, I'd be amazed. Two kid coasters next to one another is not a bad thing. It's a good thing to keep it in a concentrated area. Kings Island, CW, SFMM, CW, etc all have multiple kids coasters in one area.

SFMM kids area is a ghost towm most of the time Families don't go to SFMM much as it's viewed and rightfully, as a big thrill park. Knotts in the same market has tons of families and smaller kids.
I don't get Great America's thought process when removing the Looney Tunes land, they're the reason Six Flags has the IP in the first place, so to remove from what i read, a nice themed land for go karts is really stupid.
I really think out of all parks, Great America deserves an amazing themed Looney Tunes land, complete with a Road Runner Family launch coaster
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

Understandably as the Park has to compete with Universal and Disney so they're trying to be unique in the coaster sense
Great America on the other had is the only one of its kind here in Chicago, and started as a family park before Six Flags came in. With Disney and Universal being far away i think some families, especially here want cheaper opitons too, and i think Great America can satisfy that market, like we already have enough thrill coasters tbh, and most have been very short recently. Do we need another 15 second ride like Maxx Force?

I disagree that Marriott was running it as a family park. Yes it was built to accommodate families with only having bugs bunny national park at the time. They had the park for 7 years and added 3 rollercoasters that were are high Thrill for the time constantly going for record breakers. Six flags came in and just continued that.

Did they do an in park announcement for MaxxForce? I wonder if it means that we will break some records.

I don’t think they did but also all I remember was Maxx Force getting leaked the night before so maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention the next day lol

Nah it was a family park that had coasters, they also did take heavy inspiration from Disney, you can tell with the lands and what they were trying to achieve with the park, especially in concept art. There was better food and a lot more entertainment from what i've read
As for the coasters, At least with Marriott, they put more thought into the placement and theme with the coasters. Like Tidal Wave was water themed to fit in with Yankee Harbor, and American Eagle with it being a wooden coaster fit into that "traditional" sense of county fair. Six Flags did continue with this for a bit with Iron Wolf, but that was it, until both Viper and Raging Bull came in, and then haven't considered the areas for coasters after those 2.

It’s just my luck that tomorrow is the day school starts for me (for some reason), meaning I’ll miss the announcement. I get why they’re doing it on a Thursday in the middle of the day to avoid large crowds, but they better post something on social media.
As for our kids areas, I think we could at least get a Camp Cartoon revamp before 2028. CF seems to be fixing up/adding Camp Snoopy in various parks across their chain like Michigan’s Adventure, Kings Island, Canada’s Wonderland (they have PLANET Snoopy, but they still added Racing Railway in 2023), and now Carowinds. Wouldn’t be surprised if CP is down the line, theirs could use some work and they could expand into Millennium Island. My point is, Camp Cartoon would be the easiest to retheme since it has some camp in it and since CF had been fixing up other Camp Snoopys, I can’t see a reason why they cannot fix up ours. They would probably tear the amphitheater down while they’re at it.

Already stated multiple times in this thread , the last thing Great America needs is a coaster for 2025. The 2025 Capex projects are the parting gift of ill conceived decisions of Selim the Fool Bassoul. Coasters is not the issue with GAm and Magic Mountain, another park getting a coaster in 2025, that doesn't need it. The issues with both parks are all the other stuff, the things that Cedar Fair legacy parks have done and invested in heavily for the last decade. There is a reason CF legacy parks are producing financial records regularly the last few years. Meanwhile, SF is floundering at or below pre pandemic levels and they are even down in Q2 any many metrics from easy comps of 2023.
