I've been working through a small trove of Great America memorabilia and have decided to post what I've got. It's being scanned at a high resolution, but needs to be posted at a lower resolution to get under the file size limitations found on most sharing sites.
I still have more goodies and will add them to the first post of this thread when they become available. However, I'll be slowing down the rate at which I post (for various reasons). For example:
The park maps from 2005 and 2006 are going to be a pain. Instead of having a legend on the map, you have to read through a booklet to find out what each map identifier signifies. I might try to clean this up a bit with Photoshop. Maybe not.
I'm pretty sure I have some other maps from before 1982, but I can't find them and am tired of looking. Maybe I'll find them in the next year. Maybe not.
Added the 2019 Fright Fest Event Guide. A little late for most of us, but I got tired of waiting for the park to post their PDF. Perhaps someone can still make use of it in this last week of Fright Fest.
Also posted a new scan of the 2014 park map. Previous version was clipped.
- Added 2006 Souvenir Park Map. - Added 2006 Park Brochure.
Modifications:
- Removed absolute URL's from the memorabilia list. Users must now copy/paste URL's to a different window to view images. Some applications were automatically expanding the absolute URL's and crashing due to the number of links and sizes of the images. This thread is now Tapatalk friendly!
- 2006 Park Map (Souvenir): rescanned and touched-up to remove glare, creases, and scuff marks. - 2007 Park Map (Souvenir): rescanned and touched-up to remove glare, creases, and scuff marks.
Since no one else has said it. Thank you so much for these. The only way to make it better is if the links were clickable.
Do you have an album where they all can be viewed?
What's really funny, is that you think I'm from the GP (General Public). When indeed, I most likely know far more about the coaster, as I've rode it multiple times.
Works perfect. Thank you so much for doing these kinds of things!

Thanks! I had a tough time dating the earliest possible release of this poster. I don't think it would have been released before American Eagle opened in 1981, but maybe? If you say that you saw this poster in 1981, that rules out 1982, 1983, and 1984 (the last year that Marriott owned the park). I'll go with 1981.
My pleasure. It was so great to see the poster again! I can confirm it was 1981 or earlier. The poster, if I have this right, could have been distributed at the Milwaukee Sports Show, Winter 1981. I remember the model of the coaster there and a park rep greeting people. There was a lot of publicity about the Eagle, that's how we found out about ACE, just after Demon opened. There is a legend on the poster in the lower left which could provide a clue, but I can confirm at least 1981. The invitation to press day was spectacular. I received a huge box from Great America, and as an 11-year old that is a life event! Inside was a mylar balloon with the Eagle logo and the invitation. We got to ride the Eagle was it was designed, no headrests, no wings, no breaks that I can recall. It was unbelievable! Dad and I appear for a split second in Screams and Dreams, during the Eagle press day segment. Thanks for the great memories! I'm happy to tell you anything else I can remember.
Speaking of Eagle, I don't believe it always had those "rumple strips" that are at the bottom of the first drop. Does anyone know when those were added and why??
