How does our V2 compare with SFMW's V2. I'm not talking ride wise, but mechanically/computer wise. Is their ride down as much as ours? Do they have as much trouble getting it to operate?
in my opinion: It's not the supports thats failing it, it's the computer programing of the ride. I remember riding it twice last season, when the computer went down and the ride stopped in the LIM section.

Wow, that does look very true. Hopefully that stress doesn't break apart those new supports from the old one :sarcasm:.
Well, if you knew anything about welding or metal then you would know that a bolt is stronger than a weld. If they just welded the pieces together then it would not be very sturdy (also hard to maintain). So until you learn more about metal, please stop trying to be sarcastic.

Quick lesson in Welding 101
A weld will never be as strong as a bolted joint, in part due to the heat needed to melt the metal, it changes the molecular structure of the steel and ends up being more brittle and there for far, far more prone to cracking than the original metal.
And to make it even worse a perfectly wleded joint done by an extremely expierienced master welder can be nearly as strong as a solid piece of steel when done under perfect conditions (very little to no oxygen, clean metal, no paint or oxidation what so ever, and proper filler material and all), V2's current support has been there for a few years now and has coats of paint on it, and due to O2 in the air, they will never ever be able to get it completely clean, as the second they move the grinder rust forms instantly and that extremely weak oxidized metal will become part of the weld.
Obviously though there is no real way to bolt that joint short of ordering new top pieces for the supports with the new support stubs welded on at the factory under the afforementioned conditions. And with Intamin mandating the installation of these supports, it's a necessary Evil I guess.
(BTW, I'm not saying these supports are going to crack off and fall onto masses of people resulting in many horrible deaths, just SFGAm's maintenance dept. is going to need to pay a bit more attention to these new supports than they ever had to do before they are installed.)

The extra support on S:UE looks fine to me. I also think it will look fine on V2 too. Its better to have the ride safe than have it look nice and pretty for the guests.
Going back to WT really quick. I remember I had a discussion about it with my friend and he said one of the towers cracked. I didnt believe him at all but then I decided to research it anyways. I found an article about it and there was a picture in it that showed a crane and two or three construction workers tending to the crack. It cracked more towards the top of the tower. Also since that happened they arent allowed to operate the ride at its normal speed. Ill try and find this article for you guys.
I think that the extra supports on WT look fine too. If those types of supports go on V2s front tower then it would look fine.
yeah, the supports look a bit odd after seeing the ride for so long without them, but I seriously doubt they'll interfere with the ride...unless you like to look straight up at the track as you're riding at which point I'd have to question your sanity.
and I'd much rather have additional supports if it means that V2 doesn't need to be neutered.

Well, i'm pretty sure what Fparker said is that the new supports are WELDED on to the old supports, maybe I am reading wrong though.
