New Ride(s) for 2015

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I apologize if I'm wrong, but I'm calling this as fake - why was your friend able to get it in the link doesn't work now? And some of the phrases and punctuation and spellings are little weird and/or incorrect. Guess we'll know for sure tomorrow...

Edit: I was wrong, it's real. Maybe (hopefully?) not complete, but real.

Bluebear is right, here is also a picture of the Six Flags logo incorporating the old Mariotts Great America.\

I stand corrected. If you do a Google Search for "https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=&ie=UTF-8&q=tots%20livery%20surrey%20carriges", it comes up as a link (but when you click on it, it doesn't work). Maybe it wasn't totally ready (they misspell children's, for one), but I think it's real.

Edit: Here's a cached version of the link that works: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... clnk&gl=us

This is pretty much exactly what I wanted them to announce, so I'm thrilled. Hometown Square needs attention, so I'm glad it's getting refreshed, and the kids rides are an extra added bonus.

I'm interested to learn how Carousel Plaza will be refreshed though. Other than finishing Colombia's paint job, and getting rid of the random Foghorn and Tweety (or bringing back all the rest of the statues), it was probably at the bottom of my list for areas in the park that need work.

Thoughts:

1) So I'm guessing all those kiddie rides go into reborn Hometown Park, right? Were they all there originally? I'm not even sure I know what the Surrey Carriages is (and I can't find anything about it anywhere). And I'm surprised they didn't bring back the Bees and/or Ameri-Go-Round.

2) I'm curious what "complete refresh" is going to entail (and if it's general cleaning and fixing up and stuff, is it going to spread to the rest of the park in future years? Because it seems weird to only do two sections).

3) As I said above, that's not a very well written page, I'm sort of hoping that was just a draft and the real one will at least fix the typos in it.

4) I guess we'll get the full details after the thing tomorrow at 10?

In this photo, you can see Red Baron Airplanes and Lady Bugs. The umbrella ride in the photo may be Tots Livery Surrey Carriages, but I can't see the vehicles to tell.

Unless something has changed since this was taken 2 years ago, it looks like the pads for the rides are still there, so I'd imagine they'll just rip out the basketball game and put them right back where they used to be.

But this area is in use by Orbit, entrance to SWT, Basketball free throw, and the First Aid building. Where exactly are they going to put these new rides, unless they are going to remove BB.

^ The First Aid building is original. It is out of the picture, to the right. And the ride you see in Orbit's spot is Bottom's Up, which is not returning. I assume the games will move to the Sky Trail area or something, because the leaked page makes it clear the rides will be in Hometown.

The big chain wide announcement video and site goes up at 4 am our time. Individual, more detailed announcements start coming out about an hour later.

If I can comment on the rides the other parks are getting this year...I'm sorry, but with all the hype around what Fiesta Texas was getting this year, I'm a little disappointed the theme for their big new first-of-its-kid ride ended up being a new version of BATMAN: The Ride. Are they just going to retheme their Rockville District into Gotham City?

And wow, four other Six Flags parks got super loop rides. I'm surprised that Great America didn't get in on that and "bring back" the Tidal Wave for the 40th anniversary along with the refurbished kiddie rides. (But where would they put it?)

I'm not upset that there's no big new ride for 2015 for our park. (Although slightly disappointed that we're going to have to endure another season with American Eagle being barely rideable.) I do like that they're taking a breather after the Year of Goliath, and doing something like this proves that they're not going to cater to the "YOLO" crowd. They really do need to bring in more things patrons can do together as a family. And a question....do they even run the railway train around the park anymore?

I'm holding on to hope that for 2016, we get something like that for American Eagle. (Even though it seems kind of pointless after getting Goliath this year.)

The Eagle is definitely not barely rideable. They're are many more wooden coasters that are much rougher than Eagle. It's supposed to throw you around a bit that's what woodies do.

I suspect it might be a while before we get another big unique coaster. We haven't gotten a typical Six Flags clone in a while, so I really expect a SkyScreamer, Super Loop or Justice League dark ride, as well as hopefully "refreshing" a few more areas (because they shouldn't just stop at two)

I agree with you and also the comment about Twisted Colossus. I don't care what others say and I don't think wooden coasters need to be rough like American Eagle definitely now is. The whole "wooden coasters are supposed to be rough" argument is just a way to defend how they've gotten worse over the years. Very few if any wooden coasters are designed to be rough. Out of control, certainly but not rough.

I watched the video for Twisted Colossus and kept thinking that would be great for American Eagle. If they did something like that, they could leave out the inversions to keep it somewhat classic and we already have Goliath for the wooden inversions. Even a simple retracking by RMC but keep the layout and structure if possible would be great.

The ropes course is going away, so I have to imagine one of the rides will go there. Maybe Pictorium does bite it and another one goes there.

As for American Eagle... I can't be the only one who doesn't want an RMC re-do of it, can I? I love that lug and don't want to see it completely changed. Paint it, re-track some of it... but don't butcher it. Especially with Goliath now here.

funny thing is...Great America's video doesn't specify where the restored kiddie rides are going, whether it's in the old spot they were back by the little red school house, or ropes course we'll have to wait and find out.

^ However it says Hometown and Carousel Plaza are being refreshed. No mention of County Fair. That, to me would seem to rule out the kiddie rides going in Sky Trail's spot, even though I would think that would be cheaper, since at least 2 of the 3 existing pads will need to be repaved after 3 Point Challenge is moved.

Don't want to start rumors, but a SFFT S&S 4D would fit great in Ragin Cajun spot for 2016.
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!

I doubt it would be any cheaper at Sky Trail. Footers need to be removed and it needs pads completely.
