New Ride(s) for 2015

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby CoasterMike on June 21st, 2014, 3:27 pm
With the announcement of the plans for 2015 about 2 months away, why not start speculating what could be coming to SFGAm? Below are some options that I can see. They are NOT in any kind of order.

1. A SkyScreamer or Ferris Wheel in the Bucaneer Battle overflow que line

2. A interactive dark ride

3. I highly doubt we will get a roller coaster since we got Goliath this year however if we do, I don't think it will be anything that special. I could see a relocation of a Vekoma Boomerang in the former Rajin Cajun's site or a Intamin ZacSpin or a Premeire Launch Coaster like Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

4. New water slide at Hurricane Harbor. It would be GREAT if we could get a water coaster.

Also there are ALOT of rumors going around that Superman will be leaving soon. Last time I was at the park, I went into guest relations and they assured me that Superman WILL NOT BE LEAVING ANY TIME SOON!

It would be hard to find a worse use of that space than Ragin' Cajun, but you managed to name 3 of them

^Well the area where Rajin Cajun as you know is very small. Not to many coasters can fit there.

I still think it is too early with this as I think we should take all the time we got to enjoy our epic coaster Goliath! ;D

Buuuttttt if I must say somethin on what I think is comin in 2015, There is no doubt in my mind that it's a major Hurricane Harbor addition/expansion. 2015 will be the 10year anniversary of the park, It'd almost be foolish to pass that up.

I like the idea of Hurricane Harbor expanding however where will they do it? The park is very landlocked and they don't have much space to expand.

I say a SkyScreamer in 2015 in RC spot, but I would like to see a El Loco coaster in RC spot. The Southwest theatre is a nice spot to put a ride. I think a mine coaster could be built there, but not in 2015. I don't think we're see another major coaster until 2016.

And if you can't fit a good coaster there, then don't put a coaster there

I read something online about a coaster coming in 2016 so it's likely we're see a thrill or family ride in 2015.

Thank you for starting this thread CoasterMike

1. If we do get the Great American Sky Screamer, what do you think the height would be? Would they take away the height restriction and let it be the worlds tallest?

2. We got Riptide Bay in 2011, X-Flight in 2012, IgNight in 2013, and Goliath in 2014. Our park could really use a new flat ride. Something no other park has yet. We are pretty good at getting firsts. (Iron Wolf, BTR, Raging Bull, and a few more) Possible Locations: Trailblazer, Pictorium, RC.

3. Something like Monster Mansion at SFOG. Possible Locations: Pictorium, possibly trailblazers spot under a western theme and it could go through buildings and by dynamite.

4. Rides/Attractions that could go for a new ride:
Demon - Kind of rough, not really a "Crowd Magnet" anymore.
Go-Karts - Okay, I know Six Flags is an amusement park company, not a theme park company, but still- Go-Karts in the Yukon? Plus that area would free up a lot of space for a 2017 or so coaster.
Pictorium - Decreased attendance.

5. Some rides other parks are getting. We already got an RMC, and I mentioned the Great American Sky Screamer, but what about the other possibilities? Tsunami Soaker? Kid's Area Expansion? Another Hurricane Harbor ride?

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I guess. And BB isn't that popular so I guess that would actually be a bad choice.

Six Flags America right now:

I'm just using random names:

Dan: Hey Jim, it looks like SFGAmWorld.com is starting their new rides thread again. They're also kind of talking about rides that could be removed for a new ride!

Jim: Yes! Time to find out we're getting next! *Grabs Six Flags Great America Map*

Six flags New England might removed its boomerang coaster. GA could take it and put it RC spot.

BB spot could fit a boomerang or invertigo coaster. I think a invertigo would be better than a boomerang.

My money is on Hurricane Harbor additions. Wouldn't mind seeing them rip the rest of the ignite garbage out. Sky Screamer for '16.

A dark ride sounds like a great idea. How about a sidewinder coaster (launched loop) like the one at Elitch gardens.

This idea not only goes for Great.America, but for pretty much every six flags park. I think Six Flags should give each park a small "new" thing, and do a major TLC year. Give rides a fresh paint coat, redo some parts of rides that are rough(cough eagle helix cough), give neglected rides some care(flumes, bumper cars, etc), get new ride restraints(besides demon and non restraint rides), restore hometown square to it's formal glory, just redo everything old and make it new! It will make for new ride experiences not seen in a long time. The GP will love it, I will love it, and a lot of us would probably love it.

I have a lot more coaster ideas that I'll save for 2016. How about a swing like cedar point has (Skyhawk) or a ride like MaxAir.

I'm sticking with Skyscreamer where Ragin Cajun was.

Demon will also give its last ride this season, and the 2016 coaster will go there. Kinda hoping Demon, and BB will give their last ride, and have a coaster that goes over the walkway a few times.

I think the 1 big coaster every 2 years over the course of 6 years seems to be the most logical considering it's happened a few times already.

How tall would the SkyScreamer be. Does anybody care if I post the site where I saw something about the 2016 roller coaster in my next post.

With the exception of smaller or foreign parks picking up a heavily used example, the days of shuttle loops have been gone for about two decades, probably longer. Skyloops by Maurer Söhne (not exactly flying off the shelves), Premier's version of the Skyloop, and Intamin Impulse Coasters are probably the closest comparisons to yesterday's Shuttle Loops.
