Heard a rumour from my friends at CF that the chain snapped today and a worker was injured while trying to install it. No word on the validity of this as of yet.

Sounds like CF fanboyism.... I doubt the chain would be going in yet.

You do realize that CF in this case means CoasterForce and not Cedar Fair? Apologies if that wasn't clear but I'm not sure why Cedar Fair would know about that.

That's interesting, because I heard yesterday, from the relative of a contractor building the ride, that a cable snapped Monday night while lifting the chain, causing the chain to fall. No word on injuries. He said it would delay the ride a few days more. I had not posted it yet because it is hearsay, but since you had heard something...

Has there even been any work on/by the lift today? Did they work today at all? I have not seen any in the couple times I checked the camera today. But, the rumor I heard was told to my acquaintance by his uncle, who is a local construction worker on Goliath who was allegedly on site Monday night when it supposedly happened, and again, my source said nobody was hurt. Still rumor to me without further corroboration that we will likely never get from the park, though.

I was gonna say....That sounds like something CF employees would boast about. Even CF fanboys.

Good morning - The world’s tallest, steepest and fastest wooden roller coaster, Goliath, is coming soon. Thanks to Mother Nature’s freezing temperatures this winter and unseasonably cool and rainy spring, the final touches on Goliath have been delayed. We anticipate announcing the roller coaster’s new media preview and opening dates later this week.
This is all the park said. It clearly says there will be a media day at some time TBA. Others outside the park are fueling speculation that they'll just cancel the whole thing, which is just crazy. I mean hell, even DEJA VU had a Media Day, lol.
Also six flags has updated there website from coming this spring to coming soon. So it looks like its not going be opening for a while. I hope it is not a Déjà Vu opening.
^^ I wouldn't read too much into that. Even though spring technically ends June 20th, everyone says it's summer after school ends, so they might just have changed it because it won't be opening in what everyone refers to as "spring."
Media Day on, media day off, what gives here! May 29, no go, June 6, no go, ride finished, oh no, this is getting to be just a bunch of total B.S. I am now at the point that I don't give a rodent's posterior if there is or isn't a media day. Here is the motto for Great America's 2014 season: WE DON'T CARE, WE DON'T HAVE TO!
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!
I think part of the reason it seems like there have been so many changes and delays is that we just know so much more now than we would have in the past. If we didn't have twitter, and didn't have message boards, and didn't have a webcam, we wouldn't know every last little update about the current date. People just need to relax, it's all going to be fine in a few weeks.
Thank you, you are right. But, the park has to stop making promises they can't keep. We have jobs and responsibilities, and many of us can't take a day off at the drop of a hat or a new rumor. Let's just wait for Goliath, and get in line when it is open.

I have a friend here who wants me to post his view: He is of the opinion that Great America does not want to risk anyone slipping with the media and causing them bad press on this, so the easy way out for them is to just open the ride to the general public, who will be elated, within the next week. You know what, I think this is exactly what will happen!

Here is video of Maintenance installing the second car of Goliath's orange train yesterday. It does get a little shaky at some points because there was nowhere I could set my camera and still see the action.
"Here is your amazing and VERY tired Golaith crew! They are working extremely long hours to finish this coaster. Thanks to you all for putting in so many long consecutive days and being away from your family and friends for the past 10 months. We appreciate your hard work more than words can say:-)" - Rocky Mountain Construction's Facebook
