If the rides were open I would definitely go but I just don't have $40 in gas money to spend making a trip to Gurnee for an announcement that someone will probably have a live stream of or tweets.
Nice thanks for the link! I RSVP'd too, but I'm in Rockford, close to Machesney Park so I know what you mean
Thanks Jon! Great broadcast last Wednesday night by the way.

I've never been to one of these announcement thingies, but I would be surprised if it costs $$$ since the park will be empty and no rides will be opened.
Stream can be viewed at the Zone or on whatever mobile device you have, just like last time. The RSVP form says the gig starts at 10AM, so we'll probably go live just before then.
Since this seems to be an open-invite gig, it could get loud like the Banshee announcement. Keep your fingers on the volume controls because I can't do anything about the cell phone mike except cut audio entirely.

Back to the topic. Did anyone see Darien Lake new addittion for 2014? Lake Monster could we be getting a similar one it does have a lot of first for a wooden hybrid.
I am thinking so but not 100% sure. I didn't notice anything different in the SWA while riding the Giant Drop last week but maybe something has changed, I am not sure.
The reason that this coaster would hypothetically burn off so much energy is because it uses polyurethane wheels, which, while allowing for a higher initial speed, absorb some of the energy that the train uses to get around the track. This is why Wodan is so tall yet relatively short in length, because it burns off all of its potential energy so quickly.

Going off of the audio thing, I'll also post the announcement/groundbreaking on my youtube channel as well. youtube.com/kossdude1

I wont be filming but I'll be taking loads of pics, see you there!
As for the RC removal shiz, I dont care if they put somethin else there, I simply dont want it leaving! :/ I truly find it to be a great ride. Its the best of its kind Ive ever been on, theres somethin about ours that sets it apart from the others. & Yes, though its a "cheap portable" coaster, were the only park in the chai that went with this instead of a Gertslauer spinner... I want it to stay. If SFAm really wants one, get your own NEW one, dont take ours buy your own, theyre cheap!!
As for Thursday, I cant see straight Im so excited. Its kinda drivin me bonkers.

Now that I think about it, I agree. Sure the ride could use a bit of work, but that's manageable. I'd really like to see them replace the over the shoulder things with lap bars like Opa at Mt. Olympus has. When I rode it, those lap bars made it a much more comfortable ride than RC in my opinion. It also allows for I believe 4 ADULTS to ride in a car.
