"Follow the Journey" was the first hint could they want us to follow another recycled or going to be recycled ride from another park. Im still guessing its not a coaster rmc treatment for eagle maybe but just for one side why not both doubt it maybe its for viper.
I can't see the park marketing the fact that a "new" ride is from another park.
jadkins2012 wrote:How or what exactly states that the height they are going for is 160 ft tall?
Nothing has explicitly said 160 feet tall, the only thing we can confirm is that it will be over 125. That being said, every rumor I've heard about a coaster from Screamscape and from other people have it at about 160 feet. I think a lot of people also assumed the 160 foot height since Full Throttle is 160 and there's been talk of adding a similar coaster to the park. Even without a credible source, Iron Wolfs spot, even with the theater isn't terribly huge, so I couldn't see it fitting something over 160 feet tall (something with a traditional lift at least).

Dinn wins this one in a swift TKO. None of the marketing for Apocalypse or Boomerang mentioned either was from another park, nor would selling a "hand-me-down" coaster be wise.
As for the Eagle thing with just one side — seriously? Someone is considering this to be a serious enough rumor for it to make Screamscape? Part of the draw of Eagle is it's a racing coaster. Even with one side backwards, it's still a race. Change just one side and it's no longer a race. Plus, classic versus new in the same coaster just strikes me as odd. No, I see one of two things happening with Eagle:
If they truly do something with it, the whole thing gets redone and it gets a new theme. "Rocky Mountain Racer" or something like that. Strip all the white paint and give it a nice varnish. Give it dueling inversions or something cool.
The far more likely thing: They give Eagle a nice paint job sometime soon and that's it, meaning the video deals with something else.
Again, my money's on the latter. But if they are, truly, seriously considering the one-half thing: Not that I can do anything personally to stop it, but please no. Don't ruin Eagle by doing something, literally, half-a**ed. All or nothing.
Now the 4D thing with the theater — that seems realistic to me. Thoughts (other than "Waa, I want a coaster!")?
A reader sends in a picture showing off several survey flags in the ground by the Southwest Amphitheater and reports more seen along the road while riding American Eagle. They believe they run from behind Demon over to the Giant Drop area which would match up with the rumors of an RMC I-Box conversion of one side of American Eagle

So Screamscape has pictures of survey flags but a rather non-descript placement of them as running from "behind Demon over to the Giant Drop area." According to Screamscape, this "match[es] up" with the one side of Eagle conversion.
Um, really? Maybe I'm splitting hairs, here, but Drop is a ways away from Eagle and Demon. Not ridiculously far, but somewhat boxed off by Bull and the Amphitheater. Plus, and I'll fully admit I might be way off here (something about orange ratchet-straps), but do you really need survey flags that far away for a structure that's already existing?
I'm still not convinced this isn't something for Southwest Territory. The theme of the video would fit. An expansion/reworking of the Amphitheater to accommodate some kind of 3D/4D show? Something in place of the Amphitheater?
Fascinating how this is working. With X-Flight, it seemed like we had a better idea of what was happening before it happened. With this ... .
AE is my top coaster in the park with XF, I have constantly said they better never touch "my" AE buttt... only twisting one side of it while keepin half as the classic BA that it is, is pretty f****n epic if you ask me!
It now will literally count as two coasters(though in reality it truly is two layouts, to most its one ride). I am actually gettin anxious about this rumor. Whether or not theres a chance in hell its happening, Its a rather exciting idea to add to the park. Classic meets modern world, colliding as one.
One thing I really don't buy about the rumored changes to the American Eagle: This stuff takes TIME. The Texas Giant was closed a whole year, and the Rattler closed in early August (and those are both in Texas, where I have to imagine it's much easier to work all winter). Meanwhile, there have been no signs of the Eagle closing, and they've promoted that it's running backwards for Fright Fest, so it seems like it's not closing early, which means there's no way this would be ready anytime soon. If they knew they were doing this, I have to assume the Eagle would already be closed (and before somebody says it, it strikes me as very very potentially unlikely that they'll work on one side while running the other, you can imagine the safety issues that could lead to). The whole thing strikes me as unlikely anyway (just from an engineering standpoint, it seems like it would be really tricky to totally redo one side but leave the other alone and not risk damaging something), but with the time issue as well I think there's basically no chance of this happening now.
Just putting it out there, but can you imagine the line for eagle if they only did one side. I mean, when blue got backwards it is a mess. If they did this, then able would need a whole new queue, or at least a separation between blue and red.
I'm on the side in regards to Eagle that if they were adding something to it, I don't think it would be for the 2014 season. Right now, it's just too late. Rattler closed on August 5, 2012, and it was open again May 25, 2013. We have haven't heard the park say that Eagle is closing earlier. Eagle closing end of October is almost 3 months behind Rattler. On top of that, Texas is in a warmer climate so their winter is a little warmer. The only thing I can think of in regards to them doing something with Eagle is just chopping off one side during the off season this year, and than eventually adding the other side the next year. Do half of the work for the 2014 season (deconstructing), and than open the new half for the 2015 season if they were really going to do that.

If they wanted a 3D/4D Show, They could just gut and refurbish the Pictorium. You already have the screen and seats.
My friend who went to the park yesterday thought he saw something while going up the lift hill of batman. I dunno he might be trolling... could anyone confirm these claims?

I too have heard about the rumor about Eagle getting the Rocky Mountain Treatment. I heard that it was going to happen to the blue side, which could be possible because they could market the Backwards Blue as the LAST opportunity EVER to ride AE backwards. I like the idea of only one side getting the treatment so it doesn't fully take away from Eagle's glory and fame! I also heard the the blue side will be completely redone with a new track lay out and everything...but again, only time will tell.
My guess is that is the current plan, but they have a Plan B (which would be a Full Throttle type ride in IW's spot) jsut in case. Plan B would then become 2015's plans if they go with Eagle this year. If not, it reverse's with IW's spot in 2014, then AE in 2015!
Follow the Journey with the rocks and mountains does fit the ROcky Mountain Theme and could stay on tracj with the AE rumors

Also, in an interview on coaster enthusiast's day, Hank Salemi stated: "We have thought about giving American Eagle rocky mountain conversion, but it's not in the plans for anytime soon."
I actually wouldn't mind seeing RMC topper track instead, keeping it a wooden coaster!

Keep in mind that if they are going to the Gurnee board, (8/23) they are asking for a 125+ foot variance. Pictorium being converted to 4D would not require this. Also, if they re-tracked the Eagle (Track Topper), they would not have to go to the board unless they were adding larger hills (going over the 125 mark). X-Flight just made it under the 125 foot so SF did not have to go in front of the board.

True, and that's not out of the realm of possibility. But I could also see something even more intense that might require it to be outdoors -- flames, water, who knows. Let's face it; it's all kind of guesswork at the moment. I wouldn't rule anything out right now.
RobSFGAm wrote:Keep in mind that if they are going to the Gurnee board, (8/23) ...
All-out serious question: Do we know, for sure, if they're going to the board or not? Seems like the reports on this have been conflicting. I'd like to see a picture of the sign outside the park if it really is up there or not. I think that would answer a lot of questions.

Actually they would have to go the board, because American Eagle is 127 feet tall. But they are not going to redo American Eagle, well at least not for 2014.

Yes, we know for sure they are going to the board. They put a big sign in the back entrance of the park. A picture of it is on another SFGAm website - Dejavu has it on there.

What is "something"?
He says it looks like a sign...once again he could be joking. But still
