CHANG WATCH: The Official Topic

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I have never enjoyed Viper and Eagle as I do now. They did good stuff during the off season. Anyone know what is up with SFKK? Is it all but a ghost town? Their official site (fan-site) is gone.

I agree SUF and Eagle need to be painted the most as they two of the parks flagship rides. I think Wolf and Ragin' Cajun would be better candidates to be removed than painted (love both rides, but both serve no purpose anymore and Cajun's capacity is a joke).

I'm all for that! I rode Cajun with my kids on opening day, and came off bruised and battered! I love (non-spinning) wild mouse coasters, but the roughness of Cajun was too much, especially after spinning like crazy and hitting that little dip and hill at the very end. Funny thing is, I rode the Opa indoor coaster at Mount Olympus which is the exact same thing, but it didn't seem to spin nearly as much, and seemed much smoother to me. I rode that one several times when I was up there, but I can barely survive one ride on Cajun. Tony Hawk would be a great replacement, as long as they would theme it to mardi gras somehow (and if there would be enough room for it over there).

Oh, as long as we're talking about replacing rides in the Mardi Gras area, I think a nice first-generation free fall, painted orange, would fit perfectly in King Chaos' space!

I really like how Cajun spins freely on the second set of hairpin turns. It really is a crazy ride.

Yeah but if you spin just right on that last bump, it will feel like a minor car accident. :(

Agreed. I like RC but that last dip makes no sense at all. It should have just been inclined track into the last turn.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

That last bump is my favorite part of the ride. :D

It's funny to be a single rider and see the reaction of people getting thrown around.

Well it looks like Kentucky Kingdom will open Spring Break of 2011! under new ownership. It may be hard to believe but the park has 6 operators after the park. The KFEC did mention that they hope to have a operator by the summer. So I guess the park will be in rehab in 2010. It needs it, especially Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls after being closed for two seasons.

Six Flags wants to unload all of its Louisville holdings and probably would willingly sell its 15 acres to either the fair board or to a new park operator.

Finally some news. Thanks. Besides Chang I do not think Six Flags really cared about any other ride. In the end, they got a ride that they did not buy in the beginning and was the icon of SFKK. Not bad.

WOW! 6 Operators! Am I the only one that thinks that's a bit exaggerated? I'm not sure, just wondering. I'm sure Six Flags could've wiped that place out if they had the chance. Remember when Shapiro said that they'll wait "until the fair board finds a new owner"? Yeah, they've found one, and now it's time for Shapiro to try to get his things. :P

^ I wouldnt get your panties wet over a 15 second news snippet....

Looking at this logically, The State or another operator of KK, wont want to shell out the extra funds to re-construct Chang, most likely and this is almost always the case in these situations. Six Flags will pay some money for Chang (which sat on land that SF owned anyway) and then in 2011 you can re-ride Chang, but that will be at SFGAm,

The ride was on both propertys half and half! Six Flags seems to be in hot water right now.

I don't care were Chang ends Up! I just care that my ride has been finally mentiond! and also that the park will get rehab so it can recover from the damage six flags caused from the past decade! and I also care that we can get back our guess back from holiday world in a couple years with a new operator!

If six flags gives the ride back, Six Flags will probaly be the ones who would most likely have to pay to re-stall the ride. If that happens then you all will get bozai beach! look at where that clear spot for 2011 at SFGAm is located! right next to the water park!

If you all get keep chang! we get a decent amount of money! which would be for the Water Park exspanion and lots of new needed rides!

Six Flags may also have to give the ride back since they didn't maintain the park! which was said in the contract that six flags had to add major attractions just about every year are so which they didn't, instead, Six Flags took all or most of our favorite rides out the park and for the grand finally! six flags took out Chang! Which was one of 3 of Kentucky Kingdom's icons! Chang, The Hellavator (S.T.O.P), and the Giant Wheel! now we only have one of those icon's standing in our parks skyline which is the Giant Wheel! We have just about 1/2 of the rides that was in our park from the time Six Flags took over! Look at our park attendance! its been declining! and Holiday World has stolen our attendance because they are added rides every year which Six Flags should have been doing to our park! now in 2011, theirs going to be a major turn around. Everyone here in lousiville and just waiting and wondering what to expect but everyone want's chang back here. It was like the only thrill ride at the park that was left from when kentucky kingdom was called Kentucky Kingdom The Thrill Park!

From what? SF Paid Taxes on Chang to the state of KY, the owned the land under which Chang sat and was given approval by the state to remove the coaster.

So the only people that need to be worried about a Lawsuit is the Fair Board.

Sorry to say, but I really dont think the fair board has any legal legs to stand on here. Six Flags would not have gone through all the money and expense to remove Chang and store it where its at now, if they couldnt Build Chang somewhere else

They might have paid taxes but they didn't commit to what they said they were going to do when they bought the park. Adding our rides to other parks from the beganing! Not replacing them! Not adding replacing any rides! Chang was split in half, one of those rides that was on both property's! Chang is store and Kentucky! theirs only like 4 pieces at SFGAm!

Six Flags got approval from the state board to remove Chang under the agreement that a waterpark (Bonzai Beach) would be constructed in it's place. Six Flags obviously did not hold up that commitment. That's why there is a lawsuit over it.

If Chang was on land own by Six Flags, then why did Six Flags ask the KFEC to remove the ride?

Okay you have probably the worst spelling and grammar i've seen in a long time.

But, its a very big deal if SF paid taxes on rides, that means pretty much you own said property. The reason why SF asked the state to remove Chang, was not because it wasn't SF's property, but because Six Flags had a lease agreement with KY.

And but removing the attraction from the land, it could negatively impact park attendance at KK.

If I pay property taxes on land, that means.... I own it. Hence, you dont pay taxes on an apartment since... you dont own the building in which you live in.

After all this crap over Chang, I'm really starting to hate the thing. And all the hardcore fanboys on here who are already arranging carpools for Chang's opening day, you're just going to be the ones who complain to SF in 2011 for sending Chang elsewhere and expanding Hurricane Harbor. Dear god. What has this website gotten too? I used to love going on here, but now, with all the useless arguing, complaining, and BS it's really starting to make me sick. This was my first ever coaster forum, but now, I think it's time to move elsewhere.
