Yeah, that part I don't get either. Why they spent the time/effort/money to paint Six Flags, only to come back a month later to paint over it in blue escapes me.
However, I do like the new look, and I"m glad it is getting painted.
2 things. 1. Does anyone have a current picture now that it is all the way blue? 2. Did they just stand on top of the cabin and send it up (or down) as they painted or did they have to bring something else in?
^ The painters were just standing on the car when painting the lower levels Saturday. I have no clue on the high levels because even if they were just standing, it would be almost impossible to see them.
The tower is completely painted now (not the cabin - same color). In my opinion, it looks hideous, a traversity, and another word might be ugly. I wouldn't be surprised if they painted Lowe's on the tower to tell you the truth.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Yeah, the tower is completely painted. When we walked in the park yesterday, I said "What is that odd smell?" and my boyfriend said it was most likely the paint. Made sense. I had heard from a reliable source that they are painting the cabin white, let's see if they actually do. I'd like it to stay red, though. I actually like the new paint job. Before, I could not imagine it and hated the idea. I think it looks nice and I was definitely staring at it yesterday, admiring the new colors. With a white cabin though, I'm not sure how I'll feel about that.
They probably painted it there because even though when they sell the park, the logo will be there, just underneath the blue paint. And live on forever until the tower falls over and stuff...
^It looks really different now...at least I got some shots in before the started painting it.
actually they scraped off the new logo before they painted it. On season passholder appreciation night the tower was still all white, and the Six Flags was nowhere to be seen.

For the best of me, I don't see why six flags is leaving SSA to rot with ads on it. At least make some effort to fix it up and use it as some sort of prop! Jeez, Six Flags really doesn't like Great America do they?
SSA from what I have heard is currently being used as storage and why wouldn't they use the structure to advertise?
Don't worry, it will either be gone in 2010 or 2011 for future attractions.
The Space shuttle it self is not used for anything but the building is. To tell you the truth, I think it's really oblivious that it's going in 2010 or during 2010 so that "Green lantern" (Chang) can fit in. i do think the building might stay tough. Would be cool if it becomes a queue house!
The tower looks amazing. It makes it look bigger than it use to be and a lot cleaner. It looks like VERY new too. I'm so excited to see it this weekend.

And pretty sure they couldn't advertise on the tower.
