I seriously thought this was known in this community but apparantly it is not after reading some recent TR's.
I have been riding IW with this method for years and I get off the ride without a problem and enjoyed the intensity of it.
1. Get strapped in and make sure you are standing completely straight up. 2. Make sure both of the heels of your feet are as far back as they can go. 3. As soon as the train crests the lifthill, lean your upper body forward into the OTSR making sure your ears are in front of the restraint. 4. Continue to do this with both the heels of your feet pressed back and your upper body leaning into the OTSR for the duration of the ride. 5. Oh yeah, another important thing, ride as close to the front of the train as possible.
I guarantee you if you hated this ride before, you will now enjoy its quick directional changes and intensity.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
#3 is the only thing you really need to do, as long as you stick your head out where you can't hit the harness your fine. It doesn't matter where your feet are.
Actually, yes it does matter with your feet. I say that because if your feet arent back all the way, you could easily slip while the ride is going and get distracted.
This makes it where you wont move at all and enjoy the ride.
Dave, you also know that by not sitting completely straight up, you risk getting the family jewels racked. Also, you definitely know that riding towards the front provides a smoother ride.

I have also been doing this for years and I love every chance I get to ride the Iron Wolf. As dorky as it sounds also having been on it over 200+ times in the last 8 years you get to know the layout very quickly by heart and you can anticipate those times in the track it has those "rough" directional changes.

I actually think the back row is smoothest (at least for me)

Same. But luckily, I'm so tall my head doesn't even hit the OTSR.
I would rather not be TIRED from leaning forward the entire ride! I usually do not put my head forward, except when i get to twists i push my head to the right side and hold it there! Otherwise my head does not clang around as much
I had a smooth ride without trick, got bumped more on Demon, and I was toward the back!

This Wolf needs to be taken down the only technique I want to see used is the fastest to get it to the dump or hell...seriously would anyone cry over this crap? even without the banging it still wouldn't be a amazing ride...stand-ups are for very few and in between
why does everyone hate IW. It's a very fun ride. Just lean your head forward, I actually do that without thinking in normal life.

Well, for me personally to begin with I fit in the restraints funny cause I have short legs and a very tall body which doesn't help my cause. And also I don't think you should have to ride any ride defensively to be able to enjoy it. I like to sit down, or in this case stand there, and just enjoy the ride, not have to use tricks or put myself in bizarre positions just to get an acceptable ride.
And I'm not a pansy or nothing, I don't mind rough rides, I can ride Coney Island Cyclone in the back seat and SFNE Cyclone all day, but when it comes down to being physically painful especially with headbanging, it's just unacceptable.

I completely agree you shouldn't have to do things to enjoy a ride, but, the ride is there, it's not going anywhere, and it provides an intense experience.
So as long as it exists, use the method I provided, and enjoy it.

Strange... I ride demon back seat all the time (great for the first drop), and I don't get one instance of headbanging. Hmm, Guess I just know how to ride it!
