^Did it really pour "rain"? I go rain or shine, especially during the weekends in June or July. If you're lucky, it will pour for a bit, clear up, and the crowd disappears! They never closed the park on me during a storm.
The weather people don't know what it really is going to be the next day. So, worry about the closer the day comes.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
If it is opening day, chances are weather will be a negative factor....
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
While it will get up to 47 during the day, the other thing to make a note of is the low for Thursday night, which is 33. I can also say that it probably won't get to 47 until noon or later. So, at 8-10 AM, it may be around 40. While it will be sunny, 40 is still cold. Not that it will stop me from going, but I know that some rides probably won't run if its that cold.
Something else to keep in mind is Wind Chil factor.
If the air temp is 40 degrees, and you're moving at 65 MPH (Eagle speed), the wind chill is 24F. Outside of the members of this forum, I don't know how many "normal" guests will be at the park on Friday if its that cold.
The thing to take not is all the rain/snow/cold that will happen before opening day. That will prevent the park from getting the rides tested and prepared and getting the people trained on the rides.
^ This weekend is still decent though (well, on second thought, 38 and 39 for high temps could be a valley risk), and thats probably when most of the training gets done since most of the employees have school.
Haha let's make fun of how stupid I am, I know it was rain but yeah they said it was suppose to be sunny and like 60 or so it rained and was like 50, it kinda sucked.
The weather for tomorrow and Sunday could have a very negative effect on how many rides are ready for opening day. Also, although this could still change, right now the forcast for opening weekend is a total washout, rain all 3 days.
That's what happens when you open the first weekend in April. Last year it opened April 27th and it was windy and chilly with lots of rides down the whole day (Bull I think didn't open at all). Right now I say 75% the park will NOT open Friday or close very early. Give it 2-3 more weeks for the weather to hopefully stabilize.
^All the majors were running pretty much continuously today. Pretty much the only thing to watch out for on opening day is coasters not having all trains (or being down due to weather).
Ok... I just got a bit of hope when I checked the weather just now. It seems that there will be a 3-4 day pocket of clear weather before opening then the day before it will rain, but opening day is clear and a high of 40 deg.
Depends on the individual coaster, and also depends more on the wind. I think for B&M's technically the min temp is like 40-45 but the park knows from experience what temp they can actually run in and not valley, it really depends more on the wind. If it's not windy they will run most coasters right down into the 20's and 30's, though before the park opens they enclose a train and warm it up good with kerosene heaters, resulting in one train op for at least a little while til a second train warms up. Though in the end wind and precipitation weighs a lot more into it than the ambient air temp.
